The chicken was great and beats Zaxby’s for sure. The toast was also AWESOME and of course so was the sauce. We will definitely be back!!!
PS: give the staff grace while they are figuring out parking It’s a small restaurant that’s been packed for their grand opening (which is a blessing) and they are still working out the kinks. They do have a team member in the lot guiding traffic to make sure everyone can get in and out safely. I’d recommend parking in the Dollar Tree lot if you need to dine in – it’s maybe 20 feet from the Guthrie’s front door!
Had to go there, sorry. I’ve not eaten at a Guthrie’s in probably 20 years. As I vaguely recall, it was enjoyable at the time. Well, a newly opened Guthrie’s has been presented in my home town, and the opportunity to give it a try for lunch has developed. The location, a renovated, recently closed Hwy 55 Burgers and Shakes building, is the perfect place for a new Guthrie’s. The place is immaculate, and the staff was fantastic. Everyone appeared to be in a great mood, some of them even singing along, very well I might add, to the tunes playing in the restaurant. I jokingly said to her as we were leaving, sing it Aretha; we had a good laugh. The chicken is a fantastic home style, lightly breaded and fried to perfection. The crispy cross-cut fries were perfect dredged in the Heinz Ketchup provided in bottles at the table. They came out a super crispy, golden brown and piping hot, just like the chicken. The staff invited us back as we were leaving to return to work, and I replied, Definitely. We’ll see you again.
Now, being in my mid-40’s, I now reside in the same city as this establishment. It’s been a recent weekly ritual the past 4 Fridays, straight. As long as the meal is tasting this good, this ritual will continue. Their sauce is good enough to drink. Thanks, Guthrie’s!
