When I say this is the #1 best authentic Mexican food spot in Indiana, it’s honestly an understatement. The food is incredibly good. I even call Maria my Mexican grandma—that’s how much I love this place. ❤️
Everything Maria cooks is picked fresh daily , and you can taste every single ingredient. The flavors are so vibrant that each bite feels like a celebration. She even let me try a dish she made just for herself—not even on the menu—with some sweet potato fries. I don’t usually like sweet potatoes, but this was so good it actually inspired me to try making my own!
Now, about these tostadas… One bite and I immediately regretted not ordering more. They were that good. This place is hands down the most underrated authentic Mexican food spot. If you don’t believe me, just go try it yourself. I’m confident you’ll feel exactly the same way I do.

Small, cute spot. We had corn tortilla, carne asada tacos to go. The tacos were a little oily, but really good and on a full size tortilla. Those tacos that you’re burping later on in the day (delicious). We were able to reheat the tortillas the next day, and they were still good. If you’re of Mexican descent, you will have to specify onion and cilantro for your traditional Mexican tacos because otherwise you will receive lettuce, tomato, and cheese- remember this is Highland, IN, not as many Mexicans as Chicago or Hammond even- the owner knows her clientele and I assume that they may scare off to traditional Mexican (like most Mexican restaurants in the area). I had a chance to talk to her and found out she stopped serving horchata cause her clientele didn’t order enough of it and was having to throw it out ☹️- that tells you the market. In a neighborhood of Mexican descent, horchata finishes several times a day. For the same reason, they don’t have al pastor tacos, but I did also have their pork taco and it was delicious. So a great, fresh, spot for tacos, and will try something else next time we order from here.

I tried the beef loin steak with Hot Sauce, which is their Saturday special. The beef was very tender, and the unique homemade hot sauce paired perfectly with it. The red bean paste was smooth and flavorful, and together with the fresh lettuce and diced tomatoes, it was simply amazing! Highly recommend this dish to anyone reading this review. I’ll definitely come back again if I get the chance.

Went here for a light dinner. Dining in is limited, so if you have a large group, you should see if you can reserve in advance. Drinks are canned. Ordered from appetizer menu and everything was fresh. Will be back again to try main menu items.

Placed an order for pickup and everything was delicious. The Saturday special Lomo Des Res was so full of flavor. They also graciously offered an order of pico free of charge when I came to pick up. Would recommend.

Loved this place. Food was so fresh and service was wonderful. The only thing that was missing was the pickled carrots and peppers. The chip and dip salsa came out and the salsa was warm, chips were fresh. The dishes we ordered was delicious.

WOW, on site chef Maria makes it all by hand and in her kitchen here and has for years, even the waitress for years! The food is simply awesome, not good, not great but AWESOME. Find this place and eat here.
