If you are looking for the culinary equivalent of a warm hug, look no further than the Brisket Sullungtang at JangAn. This traditional Korean ox-bone soup is a masterclass in balance, depth, and soul-satisfying comfort.
From the moment the stone pot arrives at the table, bubbling and steaming, you know you’re in for a treat. The broth is the star of the show—milky white, rich, and velvety. It’s clear that this broth has been simmered for hours, extracting every bit of flavor from the bones without ever feeling heavy or greasy. It’s clean, pure, and serves as the perfect canvas for the generous portions of thinly sliced brisket.
The Highlights:
The Brisket: The meat is fresh and of excellent quality. It’s lean yet flavorful, absorbing the essence of the soup.
The Texture: The addition of silky somyeon (thin wheat noodles) provides a wonderful textural contrast, making every bite interesting.
The Banchan: No Sullungtang is complete without its sidekicks. The kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) at JangAn are vibrant, crisp, and offer the perfect acidic punch to cut through the richness of the ox bone broth.
The experience at JangAn feels authentic and unpretentious. The soup arrives unseasoned, allowing you to customize it with sea salt and a mountain of fresh green onions to your exact preference. It’s a dish that feels both healthy and indulgent at the same time.

This is one of the best dishes I have eaten, everything tasted fresh and good.
The Seolleongtang is excellent. The kimchi is a delight to eat. It is not the sour version. Don’t know if they do have sour version of it
The korean for their appetizer Haemul Pajeon. Freshly made and really good.
The soup is nice to make you warm in the rainy cold weather.

Absolutely delicious!
I had the brisket seolleongtang, and the broth was rich, deep, and full of flavor.
We also ordered the assorted boiled beef (suyuk) — it was so tender and had no smell at all.
Everything tasted clean, comforting, and perfectly balanced.
Definitely a place I’d love to come back to when I crave warm Korean soup!

The sullingtangs (Korean beef soups) were sooo good. They were incredibly flavorful, rich, and perfectly balanced without being overly heavy. You could really taste the depth from the slow-simmered beef broth, and each bowl was comforting and satisfying. The seasoning was just right, allowing the natural flavors to shine, and they felt both hearty and nourishing. Definitely a standout dish and something I would happily come back for.

Arrived for brunch and were greeted and seated right away. Interior has a nice aesthetic. Wanted seafood pancake, unfortunately they only make them after 4 pm? Got steamed dumplings instead which were bland while the dipping sauce was too sour. Ordered brisket Seolleontang while husband ordered tongue, both opted for glass noodles although you can order wheat. Broth was good with their flaky salt and lots of green onions, deep beef flavor and velvety. Added many green onions a later their chili paste to contrast. Broth is tasty both ways. Kimchi (cabbage and radish) were not very fermented although they still went well with the soup.

Sullungtang was very good. I had the mixed meat that comes with all types of meat from the menu. My wife has the traditional brisket n both were very traditional. Kimchi was non stop from the server. Don’t forget to add the green onion, black pepper, salt as the broth does not have salt.

Excellent seolleongtang in a homey interior. We went on a Monday night and there was no wait for a table of two. We got the brisket and the mixed meat options. There’s the option of wheat noodles or bean thread noodles. We got both for our respective soups. We also got an order of steamed mandu, which was solid. Really good to dip into the soups. You can tailor the soup how you like with salt, green onion, in which they provided a large amount of, and pepper paste. They gave us cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi, which were both excellent. The radish kimchi we liked so much that we ordered a container to go! Service was great as they offered multiple refills of the kimchi without us asking.

Outstanding Korean soup with a bone broth that’s clearly been simmered the right way—rich, clean, and deeply flavorful without being greasy or overly salty. You can taste the collagen and depth immediately. Comforting, nourishing, and satisfying from the first sip to the last. This is real bone broth, not a shortcut version.

Everything from the kimchi to the soups were delicious! I also appreciated the instructions on how to make the soup for those who aren’t familiar! The broth was so light but subtly creamy and so comforting. Also! The fresh kimchi was perfect. I bought a large container to take home. JangAn Sullungtang reminded me of this mom and pop place I ate at when I was in Seoul last fall. I can’t wait to come back.
