WHAT A TREASURE! I grew up around the Ft. Madison Area, and loved eating at sub arena as a kid. Now as an adult I unfortunately live farther away, but every time I travel through Ft. Madison I make arrangements to stop and get a sandwich! I recently did just that and WOW!!!! They have NOT lost a step over the years! Everything was as great, fresh and tasty as I remembered! I was having a long and trying day and the joy of getting to re-experience something from my childhood that tasted exactly like I remembered it tasting, completely turned my day around! I always get the #11 with extra oil & Spice!!! The staff where friendly, the service was quick and top notch! I always appreciated that this establishment was so community focused with the hanging of announcements and accomplishments of local school organizations, local art, and that they hire local high school kids to work there! It warmed my heart to see nothing has changed from the atmosphere, to the food and service! I can promise you there is no sub sandwich shop anywhere in this part of America that can stack up to the freshness and quality of Sub-arena! I hope this establishment will continue to be around for many more years to come!

This place is *crushing it* when it comes to subs. Amazing bread (proprietary recipe baked exclusively for Sub Arena by Hy-Vee, I’ve heard.) Wow. Layered meats, just the right mayo. Just say “whole #1 on white, hot” and let them work the magic. Simple process and delicious result. Tasty dill pickle included. Modest and comfortable dining area with lots of space. Easy parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Independent sandwich shop in business for approximately 40 years, so you know they are doing things right. I only regret that this was my first visit (living out of state), but I’m going to fix that.
