Was thrilled to finally be near the area to give this place a try! Ordered traditional street tacos; chorizo, carne asada and al pastor woth an horchata. All were flavorful but the chorizo takes the cake and it took everything in me to pace myself with the horchata! The tacos are packed generously with a delicious green & red salsa, a serrano chile and mexican onion. Will definitely return to try other items, the atmosphere was calm and inviting!

Dinner tonight was great! We had a party of 5 dinning in. Food and service were spot on. Shrimp Taco Loco is my favorite, chicken fajitas were outstanding, tacos de birria were great as well. We have eaten here at least 6 times now over the last few months and the food is always consistently delicious. The serving sizes on all our dinners was very generous. We will be back! Margaritas were amazing and made with fresh juices, no mixer. Thank you Tacos Los Toros!

I’m not an expert on Mexican food but it was a new restaurant close to the Vinton and Bonsack area so we gave it a try. We have only gotten takeout but by the time we got home, the food was always delicious and fresh. We hope more people will go to this restaurant. For us, most of the restaurants along orange ave is okay but this restaurant stands out for us. We enjoy the flavor, freshness and quality of the food. Please put your restaurant on Yelp for the Orange Ave location so I can post a positive review there as well since I only see your restaurant from Hershberger Rd. Thanks!

I will be back! Ordered take out, including margaritas and everything was delicious. The t-bone steak was grilled perfectly with lots of flavor and plenty of grilled onions. Spinach enchiladas were delicious, I could tell the corn tortillas were fresh and I could just about drink the chipotle red sauce lol. And the margaritas were *chef’s kiss* perfection. Glad to have this restaurant close by.

Since moving to from Houston to Roanoke 9 years ago, we’ve been fortunate to find a handful of very good eateries. Tacos Los Toros isn’t one of them. I should mention that we haven’t fared better at other supposed Mexican restaurants in this area. It just seems to be cursed. For the record, basic fajitas are super delicious and not complicated. They’re marinated and grilled skirt steak, cut and served in tender strips with tortillas, not tiny chunks of cheap and chewy beef that’s been dry seasoned and flash cooked on a flat top. Like the other Mexican restaurants in this area we’ve tried , it is clear that management doesn’t know (or perhaps care) what fajitas are or how they’re prepared.

I’m sure their may be some decent items on their menu, but we’re not going to find out. I have to add that I’m sorry this particular restaurant is getting my ire for what is much more a regional problem with getting good Mexican food. If that sounds snobby, though, I’ll live with it. It’s insulting to me that anyone would call these cheap cut scraps fajitas. People deserve better.

Atmosphere is weird because all sections are closed in like office cubicles or something. The waitress was nice but did not communicate that chips and salsa did not come with a meal. Until I asked. Typically they serve chips and salsa In general at a Mexican restaurant. If this does not go for this restaurant, that’s the first thing that they need to be saying or have a sign up. My husband ordered a meal that typically comes with tortillas and we asked about the tortillas and they said it would be a charge. I got the lunch fajitas. The beans tasted like they had cinnamon or something in it and the tortillas looked super old and only came with two. Will not be going again. Just not for us.

This restaurant may appeal to locals who aren’t familiar with authentic Mexican food, but coming from Texas, it was very disappointing! I was excited when I saw the photo of fajitas on their menu which turned out to be a major disappointment. My fajitas didn’t look anything like that photo, but instead like every other Mexican joint in town. Terrible!! My advice would be to go spend some time in Texas, learn how to prepare REAL Mexican food (or Tex-Mex), then bring that back to Roanoke. I would give you all my business if you could only be bothered to be authentic. “Classic” fajitas they weren’t. In their defense, the quacomole and cheese dip were fine, but how difficult is that? I guess I shouldn’t expect genuine Mexican food in Virginia. They have no clue! This is not meant to be a personal attack on this particular restaurant, but every so-called Mexican restaurant in Roanoke that we’ve tried so far.
