Mom and pop diner. I love all the pictures of original owners on the wall. Food was excellent. There was only one man (the owner) working this morning but the service was still 10/10. The food was made fresh and hot. Biscuits taste homemade. Potatoes are a must. The portions were perfect. I would definitely go again.

I brought my family from out of town here before the Cograil and they accommodated us well. The server was alone but very attentive and kind. The chef/ owner is a one man shop and executed the food in a timely manner. The absolute best pancake and breakfast burrito I’ve ever had. My family was impressed and satisfied with their meals. We will definitely be back.

The nostalgia and history of the restaurant is beautiful as well.

I can’t wrap my head around how many stars this place has… it quite frankly should be shut down. Look real good at the other review pictures…you can see the years of build up on PLATES & CUPS. Honestly waking in it doesn’t look that bad, but the dude had a bit of an attitude, sorta rushing. I was pretty hungry, and yes when the food came out it did look very appetizing… so of course I was already a few bites in before even realizing this…. traumatized from eating out..

January 11, 2026: My family and I were in Manitou Springs to ride the Cog Railway and decided to eat breakfast at The Kitchen. The owner was so hospitable, warm, and welcoming. We all ordered the pancakes. We were so tickled when he brought out three orders of pancakes and then told us that it was taking a bit because he only had one cast iron skillet. The pancakes were worth the the wait. We had a blast. I highly recommend and plan to go again.

The Kitchen in Manitou Springs is a cozy delight! Homemade fries were really delicious and fresh. Chicken salad sandwiches were scrumptious as well. Highly recommend!

Over from the UK and this was exactly the sort of place I had hoped to find. You could walk past this place as it looks a little scruffy but when we read the menu we knew we had to eat there. Meat loaf and chilli were excellent our friends had the quiche and salad. Friendly service from the owner/cook who was a real character. Couldn’t resist the buttermilk pie either berries.

Excellent food quality. First time I’ve had a hamburger whose meat patty was bigger than the bun in a long time. Delicious and fresh. Hand cut fries are wonderful. 8 year old Grandson had the fried chicken legs with the fries and homemade biscuit and ate it up. Optics are nostalgic from 60’s – love the real pine wood paneling. Located just north of downtown shopping district and at foot of hill from the Miramont Castle. Very walkable

What a wonderful Little place. I don’t recommend on a super hot day because it seems they don’t have air conditioning. It’s a very old building so it’s understandable but the decor is simple and it feels like you are just in someone’s house. Lol

We ordered the quiche and the traditional breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the quiches was a bit small but perfect for a light lunch (which was what we were going for), the sausage Patties are hand formed and very savory.
The iced sweet tea was perfectly balanced.

The owner was our server and he was so very kind and accommodating. Checked on us often and was insistent on everything being perfect.

We sat by the window so we could see Manitou life as we ate.

Such a nice little visit.

First time eating at this establishment. Breakfast was excellent, eggs, sausage and biscuit tasted marvelous (so much so, my wife went back later to buy extra biscuits). Our server was also the cook and host our morning there. Staff shortage or something…Really was no issue other than it started to get busy as we were leaving which may have caused some difficulties for the poor gentleman. Nice decor, sidewalk seating and a very pleasant meal. I’d go back in a minute.
