So we ended up at taco larry on a Monday afternoon. We had originally intended to go to Tortillleria Morelos, bc thier online menu looked awesome!! But they were closed, though their website clearly showed they open from 8am to 9pm. So we decided to give the taco larry a try. I will admit. The name was kind of off putting at first, doesn’t really make you think “comida authentico”
My husband is Hispanic. So we are Def Mexican Food snobs. So we went to taco larry.
Yall!! I was blown away at hope good this food was!! At that time of the afternoon, we were the only customers in the place. We started with queso, which we ate with the disappointingly watery table salsa. I ordered a michelada (see photos) and my husband was happy to see they had Victoria beer, in bottles. I didn’t see any taps at the bar, so I dont think they even offer draft beer, no big deal bc the food!! First our server brought out my elote cup, I opted for the elote in a cup instead of on the traditional corn cob bc I wanted my daughter to taste it and she has braces. The elote was delicious, fresh crisp corn and they were NOT stingy with the cheese! I knew before we sat down that I wanted tacos de birria. So I ordered 3, and asked for one taco lengua (tongue tacos are a favorite of mine) all the meat was moist, well seasoned and delicious! My husband went for the California burrito (which is probably the most gringo thing on the entire menu ) and our daughter ordered the happy plate with chicken. We ate until we were miserable, and we’re still taking home enough leftovers for another meal each. So I’m woman enough to admit I was dead wrong about el taco larry, it was really really good!! Give stars!! Can’t wait go back!!

El taco larry is one my favorite restaurant in Mississippi!! They don’t just serve basic food but different variety of Mexican food!! Last time when I was there I tried burrito and it was so good. This time I got this mango drink and it was delicious 🙂

Supposed to be Carne Asada, I think they forgot the “asada” part… maybe even the carne. No idea what this was, had zero flavor and was dry as the desert.
22$ for this and a drink. Rather than eating here you’d have more enjoyment spending 1.99$ on a bic and burning the 20$

We stopped by El Taco Larry for a casual dinner and were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the pineapple fajitas, and my boyfriend got the combo fajitas. We also decided to split an order of tacos de birria and everything came out hot, fresh, and loaded with flavor.
The pineapple fajitas were a fun twist on a classic , the sweetness from the pineapple added a nice contrast to the savory grilled meat and veggies. The combo fajitas had a generous mix of chicken, steak, and shrimp, and came sizzling to the table with all the fixings. The tacos de birria were crispy on the outside and packed with tender meat, and the consommé was flavorful and perfect for dipping.
The portions were fair for the price, and while it’s not a fancy spot, the food hits the mark if you’re craving good Mexican food on a budget. The service was friendly, and the vibe is laid-back — definitely a no-frills kind of place where the focus is on the food.
I’m giving it 4 stars because, while everything was tasty, it didn’t blow us away but for the price point, you really can’t complain. It’s a great option if you want decent, satisfying Mexican food without spending a ton. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more!

From south of the border to the gulf coast, now serving authentic Mexican dishes. New to Gulfport, this restaurant presents a fantastic first impression, clean, bright, spacious, friendly atmosphere. The follow on is nothing less than exceptional, the staff is friendly, helpful, accommodating, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food is fantastic, you can taste the fresh ingredients and can tell that every dish is authentically prepared. The portions are generous so you’ll be taking some home. Did not quite reach my typical scoville level, but with the addition of fresh jalapeños it certainly answers the mail. Even their hot sauces are home made and not a commercial bottle. This is a great can’t miss meal that will keep you coming back.

Hands-down the BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! legit street tacos, SOUPS (caldos) to die for, botanes (snack foods) and the most affordable margaritas that don’t taste like fruit juice. Welcoming vibe- ALWAYS.

The food tasted great we loved the steak and chicken. I loved the chips and bean dip. We were surprised that the Gordita did not have a thick tortia like in the picture on the menu. My husband was looking forward to something he could bite into. We ordered at the bar to go the atmosphere was great. The waitress was very sweet and helpful.
