Kickin’ rooster caught our attention, my son said he heard about them in tictok.
Let me just say, WOW! We all loved it. Chicken was fresh, hot, and had a great taste.
The cheese pull on those mozzarella bricks were insane. Wish I would have gotten a picture.
We will definitely be back.
On the way out we stopped at Hunnies. Their ice cream was super yummy, and a nice little treat.
Hopefully next time we come back they have the coffee items available.
My friends bowl had shrimp in it, he ended up throwing it out due to the shrimp tasting like soap.
The pizza was extremely burnt and dried out. Not sure how my other friend even ate it.
My other friend didn’t even eat half of her bowl either. The meat was mostly fatty and the rest mushy. She ate mostly the broccoli and scrambled egg that she added. The rice was also over cooked.
The only bright spot besides the clean bathrooms were the two workers at the ice cream spot. All smiles, very helpful and the only reason we would go back.
My wife and I went there on 2/13/26 for a date.
We ate at Kickin’ Rooster. My wife and I shared food, but my wife ordered the original sandwich with a side of fried pickles. I ordered the Nashville Hot sandwich combo with fries. We also ordered a side of slaw to share.
SERVICE: There wasn’t too much of a line, the wait was acceptable.
PRICE: Fairly priced.
PORTIONS: Not too large. Especially the fries. There were hardly any fries with my sandwich. Most importantly: The portion size of the chicken on our sandwiches! They did a GOOD JOB making sure there was enough chicken to fill the bun – in fact there was even some over-handing chicken that didn’t fit – so kudos on that!
FOOD: My wife’s original sandwich tasted fine. Just fine. It was dried out – we needed to add additional mayo to the buns to help swallow each bite. Her fried pickles… what can I say? These were the worse fried pickles we’ve ever had in our life. They were WAY too thinly sliced; the breading was way too salty; and frankly, the pickles themselves just didn’t taste good at all. Okay – on to my food. The fries were mid. Nothing to write home about, either good or bad. They were just there. As mentioned earlier, the most noteworthy thing to be said was there were barely any of them in my basket. Another disappointment.
My Nashville chicken sandwich was also alright. (It was nothing compared to Hattie B’s or Princes you get in Nashville.) I found it to be less dry than my wife’s original sandwich. The heat level was fairly hot – it built with each bite but never got to a level of being overwhelming. Now – each person’s tolerance of heat-level is individual, of course, so if you’re not accustomed to much heat with your cooking, I WOULDN’T recommend this one – it’ll be too much for your sensitive, little palate to handle. 🙂 The seasoning mix they put all over the chicken sandwich was pretty good, but I am not in love with the actual flavor of the chicken. However, I must say their “come back” sauce was the best part of the sandwich – but again, TOO STINGY! They need to coat BOTH BUNS (not just the bottom, like they did with my sandwich) with that liquidy goodness, and then dunk the whole chicken in that liquid flavor-bomb, too! Since my sandwich wasn’t super moist-and-juicy, I ended up adding ranch to my top bun which was a very good choice. Again – having more “come back” sauce would have been my preference – but the ranch was yummy also.
Finally, the slaw. My wife took one bite and declared she wouldn’t have a second. I decided it wasn’t SO bad, and I ate a few bites to help with the growing heat in my mouth of the Nashville hot sandwich. But I’m not saying I enjoyed those bites… they were for “business, not pleasure”. We ended up throwing most of the slaw out.
FINAL THOUGHTS: We will go back to the Neighbors Food Hall again, but we WON’T be eating at the Kickin’ Rooster. Next time, I think we’ll try the burgers.
