The pros
*The prices were reasonable
*The staff were friendly
*The service was fast
The cons
*The meat and cheese on the subs were lacking.
My husband got a ham and cheese. Three slices of ham and one slice of cheese cut in half for a whole sub, about 12 inches.
I ordered the Italian sub. Three slices of hard salami and three slices of cooked salami with one slice of cheese cut in half. This was disappointing not only for the lack of meat and cheese, but all the other Italian subs I’ve ordered had some type of ham, etc. This was definitely a first for me.
The place has an old school diner feel that I loved. If I was to go back I’d try the burgers. Other patrons had ordered burgers and fries and they looked good. I’ve passed this place for many, many, years and today was the first we tried it. I was disappointed and left hungry. I would probably never order another sub if I went back, you have to ask for mayo on your sub if it’s not listed as being on the sub just an FYI.

Easily the best hoagie for the price range. Fresh ingredients, and good people. Not much more you can ask for.

Really nice little place to grab a decent hoagie, stopped by during my travels from NJ to grab a quick bite after seeing this place on the map and saw it had a good rating, staff is friendly and prices are reasonable for what you get although I would suggest them loading up the hoagie with a little bit more meat. But I’m not complaining because it was still very good and the friendly staff definitely made it worth the visit. Definitely would recommend and would go back if I travel through the area again

Hoagie was OK. But getting 1 star because they used brown wilted lettuce. I’ve worked at a few Pizza/hoagie shops. I would have never served brown lettuce. Was only a 10min drive to hotel, I doubt it wilted within that time.

Saddly a poor decision on my part. Got 4 ham & cheese hoagies for my workers and they complained that there was very little meat and filled with lettuce. While friendly service is important, and they definitely have that, customer satisfaction is just as important, I know because I own a business also. I have no idea how they have such high ratings.

My girlfriend and I just moved to her hometown (Lewistown) after buying our first home. As with any move, we were too tired to cook and she suggested South Side. I went in to get pick up the food, which was fantastic, and discovered a new guilty pleasure… peanut butter banana whoopee pies (I apologize if the spelling is off, I was more focused on stuffing my face than reading labels).
The food was great, the people are fantastic, and anyone that comes through town should add South Side to their list.
10/10 will be back for more!

My favorite sandwich in the entire world. When I die I want South Side hoagies and Stewart’s orange soda at my funeral.
Pro-tip for the hoagie noobs: you need to wedge Hartley’s into the hoagie crevices for maximum crunch. Although frankly Middleswarth is lowkey better these days.

Small town little business. Used to love their Italian Cheesesteak hoagies but I just got one a week or so ago and was unpleasantly disappointed. I couldn’t even tell there were yellow pepper rings on the hoagie at all. It was all mostly all fried onions on my sandwich. It definitely wasn’t worth the money I paid for it.
I would not recommend this place for lunch after my most recent disappointing experience.
