What an amazing find in Thornbury.
We decided to give Thai Basil a try for my wife’s birthday. So happy we did.
The food, service and ambience were all incredible.
I can not recommend it highly enough.
My wife had the Pad Thai – exceptional, and I had the Kang Panang with a side order of egg fried rice – absolutely fantastic.
The Pad Thai, being a noodle dish, did not require a side order of rice/noodles.
Thank you Thai Basil for the wonderful touch of decorating the table in an acknowledgment to my wife’s birthday (see pics).
Another lovely touch was the birthday dessert from the restaurant ❤️

Absolutely delicious! We wish we could have a Thai Basil closer to home in Wales.
I called an hour before arriving, they had a table available for us on a Friday evening. When we arrived, they all greeted us with big smiles and warmth.
The restaurant was full, so we were lucky to have a table at such short notice.
We had spring rolls for starters, I had a classic pad Thai with chicken and my husband had one of the spicy chicken stir fries with egg fried rice. Authentic, delicious and cooked with so much flavour. The food was piping hot and fresh.
The service was excellent, everybody was attentive, friendly and smiling back.
A perfect place for couples, families and groups. The menu has a variety, with options from extra spicy to sweet, something for everyone. The cost was very reasonable, cheaper than a lot of restaurants.
Would we come again? absolutely!!

What an amazing evening.
Jen booked this amazing restaurant and gave them the heads up it was my 60th. What exceptional effort went into making my birthday celebrations amazing. My table was scattered with happy birthday confetti. There was a banner across the windows. The food and service were fantastic. And to top it off, I was given a beautiful cake, candles and sung to by Imelda and her team. Just an extraordinary evening in Thornbury at a beautiful Restaurant. Imelda you run a wonderful restaurant . Your staff are a blessing.

Didn’t manage to get photos of the starters but highly recommend the mince pork on the sesame toast, was delicious.
Mains were great too, definitely will come back soon. Staff extremely friendly and everyone was so nice to us. Pad Thai was a bit sweet for my taste but nevertheless was really good.

Visited Thai Basil yesterday for the first time in over 20 years – obviously the management has changed in that time but I was delighted to find the food and service were every bit as good as it was all that time ago. There’s a peaceful garden at the back and it was lovely to sit on the veranda on a warm evening with the calming sound of the fountain. Thanks to the team and hope to see you again soon!

First time to eat here again after they reopen, have to say it’s better than before!! The green curry is the best I’ve had in the UK, and the chicken breast in Pad thai is so tender it’s unbelievable. Lunch menu is very reasonable price, they improved the interior decor and the staff are super friendly. Lovely local restaurant and definitely will visit them regularly. High streets need our support.

My partner and I love coming here. The food is always amazing. Portions are generous in particular the duck starter with lots of pancakes and hoisin sauce. Waiting staff are always very friendly and obliging.
