We tried the huevos rancheros, mole chilaquiles, and hot cakes — everything was really good and super flavorful. The house-made salsas were delicious and the portions were BIG, so come hungry. Nothing felt skimpy and everything tasted fresh.
Great spot for a laid-back Mexican brunch in San Diego. Good food, good vibes, good service and I’d definitely come back again.
Our waitress was friendly and brought our drinks promptly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The music was enjoyable, and it was a nice bonus to witness another guest celebrating their birthday, it added to the festive vibe! Finding good cafe de olla can be a challenge around here, but this one was exceptionally delicious. My husband and daughter were thrilled with the agua frescas served in giant glass mugs. I ordered the carne en salsa verde, and I was so excited that I forgot to take a picture before diving in—so here’s a shot halfway through my meal! It was served with warm tortillas, while my toddler enjoyed sausage and eggs with a side of beans and potatoes. My daughter chose the chicken green enchiladas, and my husband opted for the shrimp omelette.
Overall, the service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back!
I loved the Western-style interior; it truly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another world, everybody was so friendly and welcoming there.
Highly recommended!
[Let’s me break down the experience]
From the moment we checked in on a busy Saturday lunch, we were greeted with a smile, and complimentary café de olla.
And the love didn’t stop there. Once sat we immediately were handed little pastries stuffed with chocolate!
Then the complimentary home made chips and fresh salsa! Trust me, all of this is fresh, not store bought.
DO NOT SKIP THE AGUA CHILLES!! i tried the one with the mango, pineapple, & Tamarindo! It was some of the best I’ve ever tried!
I noticed other folks had jamica & horchata in what looked like 40oz cups! Huge!
All of our dishes were so good! I loved the Norteño Chilaquiles, the fish taco was stuffed with fish, and the menudo was not only amazing, but the size portion was legit. The half portion was big!
I saw a neighboring table eating omelets, they also looked big, and delicious.
After everything, we were gifted 3 tiny desserts: tres leche, tiramisu, and a pastrie, all absolutely amazing.
This place is a MUST TRY!!
They served complimentary sweet bread , chips and salsa . The atmosphere is so cute and looks newly remodeled. We will definitely be back!
Our server Imelda was very friendly and checked in on us a couple of times.
The food was great and the prices are very reasonable.
We even got complimentary dessert !
Oh, the “pan dulce” was fresh and tasty as well
