Wow! Great addition to the downtown Decatur area. This ain’t your grannies Ted Turner’s Montana Grill anymore. Love the decor and that bar is fire. Great service and really good drinks. Sign of a good bartender is how well they make a Manhattan and they did it right. Good was off the chain (showing my age with that line). The Pulpo for and appetizer for 2 could have feed 3. The Branzino and the Halibut were cooked perfectly. Love a Mexican restaurant that know how to do fish. Oh we gon be back for sure.

Casa Balam was such a lovely experience. The service was truly top tier; attentive, warm, and thoughtful without ever feeling overbearing. From start to finish, everything felt well-paced and intentional.

The food and drinks were beautifully done, flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly prepared with care. What really stood out to me was how elevated the experience felt while still remaining very affordable, which isn’t always easy to find.

I also appreciated their mocktail options. They weren’t an afterthought at all , genuinely well-crafted and full of flavor, making it easy to enjoy a great drink without alcohol.

The location is another plus. Street parking was easy, and there’s a parking garage right next door, which made getting in and out stress-free.

Overall, Casa Balam strikes a great balance between quality, atmosphere, and value. A place I’d happily return to and recommend.

With no reservations on a Valentines day weekend, my wife and I ended up at the bar of Casa Balam in Decatur. Where the Ted’s Montana grill used to be. They did have a planned menu but with options. Great drinks ( a good alternative to the espresso martinis) and the the bartenders gave us great service. Definitely going back to experience their whole menu.

The food was excellent, cocktails were really good and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. It’s a great spot for a date night or hanging with some friends at a reasonable price. I highly recommend.

The interior is stunning!!! Our server (Olas, I’m pretty sure I’m not spelling that correctly) went above and beyond to provide details on every dish and cocktail! The GM Sebastian also sat with us for awhile answering questions and chatting. Even Juan (another server) stopped by to say hello! The food is beyond amazing. It’s as beautiful as it is delicious! The chef does an amazing job! The octopus was the most flavorful and tender that I’ve ever had!!! The team acts like family here and it shows in quality of food and service!

LOUD environment. Chicken empanadas were pretty good. They came before my cocktail shower up (which took forever). The sea bass was 7/10. Chicken tacos 4/10. Servers didn’t check on us at any point, to refill the water jar, or ask about the food. Only time she checked in was when the plates were sitting empty for a while and came to ask if we wanted the check. Personally, wouldn’t come back, due to the REALLY bad service.

This was one of the worse experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We had a reservation for 6pm. First round of tables being sat. They were out of a lot of dishes, the chef came in late, and they didn’t have anything to accommodate young children. The food that we did receive was good…but we ordered two ribeyes, two branzinos, apps and sides. They brought two steaks from different tables (not what we ordered), one of the fish was so poorly done they wouldn’t bring it out, but they ran out of the fish and half the menu so we couldn’t get anything to replace it. For five adults and a toddler we had apps, a fish, and two steaks. The food also took an hour to come out. They comped the fish and took 15% off the bill…while charging 20% for a tip for a six person table. One person was 2 years old and they didn’t even have high chairs or boosters. Even after we mentioned that they brought us the wrong steaks, they didn’t comp them. Anyway, our server was trying so hard. She was good. Everything else was a mess.

Celebrated my birthday here with some friends. The service was slightly backed up, but our servers were very courteous and friendly. The food was delectable! I got a complimentary dessert for my birthday as well. Definitely worth a second visit!
