We stopped by Hobe Sound Deli on our way north from Miami. We’ve never been there before. When we arrived for a late lunch around 1pm, there were already a few people ahead of us and more arriving behind. Very busy yet efficient restaurant. The employees were patient as we looked over the menu a few times. It was fun to watch the process as they filled orders. I was impressed that the employees new a few people by name as they walked in.
I was so excited they had a liverwurst sandwich on the menu. I love liverwurst and hardly buy it because I’m the only one who likes it. As we made our order, I asked the owner for his recommendation for sandwich vs sub and everything was spot on. We ordered a liverwurst sandwich, rueben sandwich, pastrami sub, cracked pepper turkey sub and a chicken salad. I was also pleased by their chip selection and that they had pork rinds available.
We took our haul over to the beach which had multiple picnic tables covered by a pavilion. It was a rather breezy, but we held down our napkins and bags with water bottles.
We shared everything. A first time restaurant, why not? The reuben sandwich was my favorite; by far the best I’ve had in years. The liverwurst did not disappoint either; delicious! My husband loved their soft bread and meat on his pastrami. Our kids loved everything, minus my liverwurst sandwich. Our 6 year old did like it though.
On a longer visit I’d love to explore the beach and the town.
All in all, 10/10 I’d recommend. Next time we’re in the area, it’s a must.

I love eating here, I eat here everyday almost. Every time I come my sandwich is normally done right. But they should consider not having the older women take phone orders due to my sub being made wrong when she takes my order. Other than that everyone is lovely and the food is wonderful. Definitely would recommend to others.

My family and I have been coming here for years, and they have always been great, friendly, and most importantly local! The food is always quality and you can tell, they care about what they’re serving. I enjoy coming here over going to Publix for my sandwiches because they give you more cold cuts than Publix does, and you’re supporting a local family. We enjoy having you guys as neighbors and thank you for serving Hobe sound for the last half century.

First time visiting and the workers are absolutely rude. Don’t waste your money at a restaurant that doesn’t value you as a customer. My family was simply trying to place an order when the woman working acted like we were inconveniencing her. Short and snarky responses to any questions we had. Walked out. Won’t waste my money on a place that makes you feel less than.

We were traveling and looking for a place to eat lunch. We stopped in very briefly. The lady behind the counter was busy, but she greeted us and seemed to be very friendly. We chose to go somewhere else because they are a pickup-only deli; they don’t have tables to eat there.

Wonderful mom and pop sandwich shop. Offers great options for cold and hot sandwiches along with other things like soups and deserts. Great place to grab a quick bite. Atmosphere is awesome, everyone is friendly and inviting, and orders are completed fast, but accurately!

Great deli with friendly employees . I have had their hot pastrami on rye, chicken salad on rye, and a cold corned beef/pastrami on rye bread. ALL were excellent and filling. Imo the larger “sub” sandwich would be too much for most. It does come ala cart, so pickle spear, potato or pasta salad, chips, and drink are all extra. Expect to pay around $18 for sandwich, chips, and drink. My only complaint would be that the chicken and wild rice soup that I ordered today was room temperature! I had to go back in and ask them to heat it up. Not sure why that occurred, as they had been open for hours prior to my visit. If I had one suggestion to make, it would be to put an awning on the back of the building to shade a couple of picnic tables. There is no seating, so I had to eat in my car. Fortunately, there was a shade tree across the street, at a closed bank, to park under.
