I really want to like this place, but it’s hard when you get half of what you pay for. I occasionally go in person to a restaurant like this, order at the counter, and see exactly what I get. In person, the employee weighed the portions on a scale, which I appreciated. At least I knew I was getting the serving sizes I paid for which is important because I track my food intake for the gym gainz.
But here’s the problem: when you order through the app or online, the portions aren’t even close. (Chipotle is notorious for shorting app orders, but apparently Mo’ Bettahs has the same issue.) Before ordering, I checked their website and was actually impressed. They list detailed macros and serving sizes for each plate and side. Again, as someone who tracks my meals for the gym, it saved me time not having to scour the internet for a nutrition chart.
So my girlfriend placed the order online. Here’s what the website says a regular plate with two meats should include:
Teriyaki Chicken: 287g
Pulehu Chicken: 289g
Rice (per scoop): 130g
Macaroni Salad: 130g
Here’s what I actually received:
Teriyaki Chicken: 170g
Pulehu Chicken: 154g
Rice (2 scoops): 242g (short of the listed 260g)
Macaroni Salad: 80g
The only thing even close was the rice, and that was still under. In total, I got nearly half the food I paid for, yet was still charged full price. We called the manager, who said he’d “make it right,” but only if we physically brought the food back to the store. That’s not realistic, and frankly, I wasn’t looking for a refund. I just don’t appreciate being cheated. If they’re consistently serving portions this far off for online orders, that’s unacceptable.
The food itself is good, and I like that it’s a quick, clean option after the gym. But I’ve learned my lesson: if I ever go back (big IF), I’ll only order in person.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while but just never stopped. So yesterday I ordered the Classic Ekolu that has teriyaki steak, teriyaki chicken, and kalua pig. I also ordered sides of Shrimp Tempura. Wow was I disappointed. The chicken was as tough as I have ever eaten, and being that it is dark meat that is hard to do. The shrimp was fairly decent no complaints there. The steak was good but there was not much of that. Now lets get to the pig, not only was it completely over salted and dry, it had something in it that was the texture of plastic, glass, rock salt, maybe bone. I thought maybe I just got a random piece but then took another bite and same thing. It was terrible anyways so it went in the trash. At least the macaroni salad was decent and the rice was good. Also I would probably suggest the guy sharpening his knife not to do it over the food, very odd for sure. On a side note the gentleman at the counter that took my order was pleasant and helpful. Will not be back though.

First time visit and it was worth the wait. I got the Teri and Veggie plate and it was so good! The chicken was nicely cooked, seasoned and delish, as we’re the veggies, the macaroni salad, and the rice. I am trying the beef next time.

I recently visited Mo’Bettah’s in Waxahachie and couldn’t be more impressed! From start to finish, the service was exceptional. The team was not only professional and efficient, but also incredibly warm—there was real camaraderie throughout the process of placing and picking up my order. The leadership at this location stands out as well. They took the time to share the store’s history and talked about their commitment to engaging with the community—something that really sets them apart from typical food chains.
Now let’s talk food—protein for days! I ordered the teriyaki chicken and steak, shrimp tempura, kalua pig, pulehu chicken, and katsu chicken… and every bite was a winner. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Compared to other food chains in the area, Mo’Bettah’s is in a league of its own when it comes to quality and taste.
This place checks all the boxes: stellar service, strong leadership, community spirit, and unbeatable food. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an elevated, island-inspired meal in Waxahachie! Matter of fact, I’m getting hungry all over again.

Went here Saturday, it wasn’t busy, one person in line, but still the 7+ employees standing around provided no direction, just asked what we wanted and then shoved the plate down the line… where no one did anything with it for a couple of minutes. They were out of the chicken I wanted, but instead of saying to wait a moment or even to pick something else, the guy just mumbled something and didn’t make eye contact. I eventually moved down the line under the impression that they were making more based on them hollering back and forth to each other (but still not speaking to me about it). We sat and ate. The pork was insanely salty. I love salty food, so when I say it was too salty, I mean even mixed with rice and their super bland macaroni salad, it was thirst-inducing, mouth hurting salty. The grilled chicken was good. The katsu chicken was bland but crunchy. Given the lack of options for sides (macaroni salad or green salad), I would have thought their macaroni salad would have some flavor or otherwise be dialed in. It was pretty much just mayo, noodles and shredded carrots. The rice was fine, but it’s hard to screw up plain white rice. Overall, really a let down. Sad since I have really been missing the food diversity down here compared to Fort Worth and Frisco and was excited to try something new!

Good amount of food for the price. The exception might be the upcharge to add steak to a two meat plate. It’s a bit too noisy for me. Staff needs to speak louder when you’re ordering. It will be interesting to see if portion sizes go down after the initial enthusiasm in Waxahachie wears down.
Recent visit, noise issues, much improved. Regular plate, 8 oz pulehu, 4 oz katsu, side veggies, brown rice, and mac salad getting over 70 g of protein. Hard to beat in any fast food restaurant. Bland? No. And love the yeobo sauce.

Had a Bogo for a regular sized plate and let me tell you- this could have fed an army! The portions were HUGE! They use a scale to make sure everyone gets the same amount if meat- already a plus for me lol – and let me tell you, it was SO juicy and delicious! We ordered a double katsu chicken plate (kids am i right ) and a plate with kahlua pork and teriyaki chicken. The katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the pork was the best IMO, it was soooo tender and juicy. The Geryaki chicken was perfectly grilled and had just the right amount of teriyaki sauce. The macaroni salad was so good too! 10/10 I will definitely be back.

My ohana and I love coming to this location. I’ve lived in Hawaiʻi, and this spot definitely passes the vibe check! it makes me miss the 808 in the best way. We usually order online but also dine in, and both experiences have been great.
Customer service is always solid, especially when the Hawaiian girl is working the register. Her energy, recommendations, and sauce pairings have never disappointed.
The POG is amazing, the mango cheesecake is delicious, and the egg rolls hit every time. Super grateful we have a Mo’ Bettahs here in Waxahachie!

The workers were friendly and helped me decide what to choose as it was my first time there. I was in and out within minutes of ordering. I had the teriyaki chicken and the katsu chicken with rice and macaroni salad. I choose the spicy mayo. Everything tasted amazing. The chicken was juicy and delicious. The spicy mayo added a little extra kick it was very good.
