Very disappointing. First of all if you’ve ever eaten a “Döner” in Germany you won’t call this a Döner here.
The meat was inedible. It was burned, black and hard. There was just a half slice of cucumber and tomato in there, so the Doner was flat and that for a price of 15 $ !! Currywurst was okay but definitely not enough Curryketchup sauce. Nice people but the food is not recommended.

Food was exquisite and the staff was absolutely delightful. We were in the area for a wrestling tournament and our oldest wore his first place medal. He got a dessert on the house for being a champion. Coming from Germany and craving a good Döner Kebab, we could not have been more pleased. 10/10 we will be back.

It is one of my favorite place I love it but my 2 gyros were almost half empty and no sauce I am glad I took extra sauce for $17 should be a little more of meat and veggies

My husband and I visited Balkan House this past weekend and would rate it a solid 4/5. While the food was fantastic and my husband loved it, I felt it could have been a bit more authentic. Listening to Katy Perry didn’t quite match the vibe of enjoying Bosnian hits! As someone who grew up with ćevape, I found them a bit lacking, but overall, it was a great experience. Since we don’t have comparable restaurants in Indiana, I wouldn’t hesitate to drive another three hours just to satisfy my cravings!

I am so so so happy to finally find a good Döner joint in the Detroit area! I discovered Döner while studying abroad in Germany and searched years and years to find one. Honest to goodness, I almost shed a tear when I took my first bite. Look at these meals! They’re incredible! Portions were huge. I got the bowl this time and had enough for two dinners. The Loaded was loaded indeed. I got the beef/lamb meat option and I would suggest it to everyone. Next time, I’ll try the falafel.
This location is very limited in space so it’s best for small groups or take out.
Thank you Balkan House!

The falafel doner is amazing! Service got 3 stars for the looks I got from putting the change in my pocket rather than giving it to her as a tip. I paid $34 for two vegetarian sammiches (only). No drink. Didn’t come with silverware or any napkins. She did not bring the food out to the table nor to my car. Unfortunately my experience at this place could have been better if not for the entitlement of the counter person expecting a tip for putting two boxes in a bag and taking one step to hand me the bag.

I absolutely love Balkan House, but I’m getting to a point of not going there anymore. A couple years ago, the Doner sandwiches would always be overfilled and absolutely amazing. For the last couple years, time and time again, they are half empty and they have raised their prices. I understand raising prices, but don’t cut back on the quality. $15 for a half full sandwich and $1.25 for a half full 2oz cup of extra sauce is getting absurd. Please fix this Balkan House.

I lived in the Balkans growing up as a kid and have a soft spot for the food and culture. This place had some of my favorites including Sopska Salad and Pljeskavica (Balkans hamburger) that were both great! They also had homemade Kajmak which is like a cream cheese/butter flavor and was very good! Very friendly staff and excellent service, would come back!

The Balkan House is hands down one of my favorite spots for authentic Bosnian cuisine! I’ve visited both their Ferndale and Hamtramck locations, and the food is consistently amazing. The doner kabobs are the best around, and I love that they’re 100% halal.

Their menu has so much variety, from classic cevapi to imported and grilled platters and everything is packed with flavor. Plus, their Thursday special (doner kabob, free fries, and a drink) is such a great deal!

The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the imported drinks add a unique touch to the experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Bosnian food. Can’t wait to come back!
