We have been hearing about “Two Tones Restaurant” in Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho and took a road-trip to check it out. This is a down home, family operated eatery with good vibes and great ambiance. That was the best thing about the place. While it isn’t your 4 star NY rating, where competition is huge, I give it this rating because of its unique venue and character and there is nothing else like it in the area.
My friends had excellent chicken, sauce and mashed potatoes. The salads were great. I ordered the spaghetti which was okay but the meatball was definitely over cooked and the meal was dry. So, I will avoid that dish in the future and try other dishes that I hear are very good.
Summer is the time to enjoy the water feature on the back patio. They do have heaters but hey, Northern Idaho is cold except for a few months during the summer.
Check out “Two Tones”. I recommend it and if this posting was helpful, please “Like” my post. It helps to have the feedback.

The food has been fantastic on both occasions, and the service was even better! The owner was gracious on our initial visit and recommended a nearby hike to a beautiful waterfall, Myrtle Falls. Sit outside and enjoy the ambiance with serene water features and a squirrel show. Every appetizer, entree, and dessert has been incredible, you can’t miss!

Stopped in for our anniversary. Highly recommend you drop in for some great food and awesome atmosphere. There is plenty of parking. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. There are two dining options inside and outback by the pond. The fried zucchini was really good, the filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The huckleberry tri-tip hit the spot, not too sweet but just enough savor. The huckleberry cheesecake was a perfect compliment. We look forward to our next trip to the area.

Those to the North end of the panhandle, this is for you. If you are looking for five star caliber food, without the high price, this is the place to go. Being from Seattle and traveling for business I have sampled great food from all over. The chef has worked at several high end restaurants on the coast and has compiled a menu of the best meals and deserts.
Hands down best clam chowder I have ever had. He makes it every Friday and will sell you a large batch if you call in Thursday or early Friday. Grab some for hunting camp, or fishing the river to warm you up. The pasta my wife and I ordered had us overindulging. My son’s hamburger looks like something that you would see on an ad for American beef farmers. Oh but wait, they have those deserts I mentioned earlier. Save room if you can, or get it to go. I would have posted pictures of those too, but they were devoured before I got a chance.
I feel that the other employees also have their own contributions as it sounded like one was in charge of the deserts side of things. The owner and staff were all very welcoming and offered fast and friendly service. If you are headed to Bonners Ferry, add this in to your stop. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant.

Two Tones Cafe is a wonderful little hidden gem among one of the small towns in North Idaho. Easy to locate, right off the highway in Bonners Ferry, as you see the sign from the highway you can also see the abundance of green from the well maintained trees in the back of the establishment. We pulled up to a full house, all staff was friendly and greeted us with a warm smile. We sat outside In the back patio area, even though it was a little cold and starting to rain. The staff quickly started up large outdoor heaters to accommodate guests. The back is beautifully landscaped complete with globe string lights, a whimsical wooden bridge and bench, a pond , fountains, and what appeared to be an outdoor bar perhaps? (Not in use currently) I ordered Drunken Chicken Marsala, my friend got the Tillamook burger with Backroad Fries. Everything was phenomenal, Burger was cooked perfectly, the flavors were savory with small hints of sweet, the Marsala had a nice crispy layer and was served with a proper portion of topping/sauce. Veggies were crisp yet soft, and those fries were exceptional! We also ended up trying dessert, although we did have a bit of a wait (due to cooking time) we had a beautiful plate of Beginets and an amazing creme brûlée. Even the lemonade here tasted homemade and was delicious! The owner was super attentive and stopped to have a friendly talk with each table at least once. This establishment has a staff with good vibes, a beautiful relaxing atmosphere and amazing eats. Don’t miss out on this one!

They offer some of the best bread ever! He had drunken chicken. It was kind of bland, but he really liked the potatoes and veggies. I had huckleberry chicken and it was terrific. I felt like we waited kind of a long time for our meals but our waitress was great.

If you are in Northern Idaho do yourself a favor and go here! We are here on vacation and wish we would have came the first night instead of the last -in our opinion best food in Bonners Ferry! It’s so fresh and delicious with SO many choices. Highly recommend the huckleberry ginger chicken! Also they give you bread that looked homemade with honey butter-absolutely delicious, additionally the huckleberry milkshake was delicious!!! The restaurant is very cute and their patio looked beautiful too, if we had come a little earlier when it was warmer we would have sat outside.
