Welcome to Modern Thai! Traditional Thai Food in a chic stylish setting for a casual lunch or dinner. Our Chef Darunee (ดรุณี), learned to prepare authentic Thai food from her mom, who for 20 years, owned and managed a Modern Thai restaurant in San Francisco, a city known for its excellence in food and food service. After her mom’s retirement, Darunee decided to continue the Modern Thai tradition and bring the original Thai recipes and experience to the city of Tyrone and the Atlanta area. Here at Modern Thai, we pride ourselves on using only the freshest and finest ingredients in our recipes. We have excellent customer service, with a team of friendly staff. Great food and I appreciated the service! My chicken satay was delish and I loved the fine beets as an edible garnish. The rice-wine pickles were so good I wanted more!
It’s nice when the waitstaff realize they should pre-buss a table. As soon as I was done w a dish and moved it to the side they picked it up. Cocktails look Fantastic so I will have to be back for those!

This place is FABULOUS!! From the moment we walked in, we were treated wonderfully. The staff went above & beyond to make sure everything was outstanding.Its’s the kind of place where the food really looks like the pictures and tastes even better! We had gyoza, crab Rangoon, chicken tom kha soup, red curry, & a lychee martini. Everything was esquisite! On a side note the restrooms were also roomy & quite clean. I will absolutely be back again asap. Try it – you won’t be sorry!

This is a nice place for some good thai food. The signature blue rice is a nice touch. The food was a little underseasoned but still pretty good. The restaurant and restrooms were vey clean. The waitstaff provided good customer service.

Modern Thai place was a letdown. First off, the waitress straight-up lied about changing my order. I asked for a small coconut soup and wanted to swap it for something else. She said no way, it was already made. But then, it took almost 15 minutes to come out! Still, I gotta say, it was amazing, just like the soup I had in Thailand back in March. She even argued with us about the veggie egg rolls, which we didn’t even want, but finally took them off the bill and brought out crispy fried ones. The Drunken Noodles were okay, but way too much Thai basil. I went there because I heard they use holy Thai basil and kaffir lime leaves. The service and vibe totally ruined my birthday lunch, and I’m never going back.

Really charming restaurant. We had never been here but when we pulled in at 430 in the afternoon literally 10 cars pulled in and people kept streaming in and by the time we left an hour later, every table was full. Best Thai food South of Atlanta. Also tasty refreshing desserts.

We really enjoy Thai cuisine and we found this wonderful restaurant that is very easy to get to. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the food and service are excellent! As we are particular with eating food that is organic and low in salt, we found this cuisine works well for us. It’s reasonably priced for our budget and the atmosphere is conducive as well!

I wish I could give this restaurant a 1000/1000 Because the aesthetic as well as the food is absolutely incredible. Our hostess was amazing. I had the red curry and (my son) had the ribs when I tell you this is the best tie that I have had in my life. We will be coming back soon

Wow! What a wonderful tasteful eat. Def will come again & again. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. Wings were cooked to perfection, the perfect crisp to it, & that sweet honey was def sweet. The soup was so rich. Dishes were tasteful fresh and happy meal. The blue rice w/o being an artificial dye is gratefully appreciated. And couldnt have shellfish, dyes, treenuts and she quickly knew what to do w/the dish i wanted. Partner had the other options and said what i did. Love it here. Super cute look inside as well, beautiful. They were super busy and it just being 2 servers i was so impressed. oh and prices super plus.

Our latest visit was on a Friday night and they were full with only a few tables still available. But that didn’t stop the great service that we’ve come to expect at this fantastic restaurant. We started with two soups. I had the Tom Yum and my husband had their Coconut soup. Both so fresh and delicious. Then we shared Crab fried rice – lots of flavorful chunks of crab and mildly seasoned rice and the red curry with beef tenderloin. Wish I could cook like this! Of course we also had their blue jasmine rice and I learned something about how it’s prepared. The rice is made with butterfly pea flower water! See photo.
