My fiance spoke to the owner to request to use their parking spaces during closed hours, offering to pay a fee. They agreed upon a rate of $60 for 6 cars from the hours of 5 pm to 12 am (more expensive than the lot quoted us from a block away, but worth while for convenience). The owner told my fiance he had a couple weeks to confirm. After 1 weeks, my fiance called back to confirm and finalize payment when the owner changed her mind and said he took too long to agree so now the price was going up. After some discussion and back and forth on the owners part, everything was once again agreed for $60 for 6 cars. My fiance then asked about or they prefer payment and to get confirmation in writing that we were allowed to use their lot to ensure none of our visitors get ticketed. The owner became quite enraged when asked this and refused to give any written agreements and kept accusing my fiance of “[not trusting her]”. When my fiance explained the reasoning as to why he wants written confirmation, she became so irate, raising her voice, and then hung up on him. Very rude and unprofessional behaviour. If this is how they treat people willing to give them extra money for no service, I can only imagine how they treat their customers. Stay away

I love eating here, its so homey and the food is delicious. Reminds me of a home-cooked meal from my grandmother’s house. The restaurant has such a cozy vibe. The employees are so nice and the service was great. The prices are great and the menu has quite a few options from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Must try if you ask me

Found this little spot on our way back home. We love the small diner vibe. Coffee was plentiful, and the food was great. My husband thought, however, that the hungry man plate should have had 3 of everything instead of 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 ham. Everything was great until I used the restroom. It was in a dingy basement, but the worst part is that in the women’s stall, there are open garbage cans where there were dumped, fully used sanitary napkins. So disgusting. I know it’s a tavern at night, but either have the washroom cleaned every morning when you open or use the actual sanitary napkins dispenser so a guest don’t have to see that. This could have been a 5 star if it wasn’t for the restroom.

Very reasonable prices and now I know why this place has become a favourite for many, I’ll definitely be coming back. Basell’s Restaurant is a time capsule of flavors and vibes! The Hamburger Melt was divine, and the retro 50s atmosphere adds authenticity to the experience. It’s like dining in a vintage dream that’s stayed untouched for decades.
