Ordered fajitas. The meat was so tough that we ended up bringing it home for our dogs. Didn’t want to complain and then we ordered a queso dip which was for $7.25 was the smallest bowl. It was the size of a salsa bowl. Won’t be going back there. We usually go there all the time but the quality seems to be going down. When you ask for a napkin they only give you one. Maybe two when you’re just trying to clean up the table from your drinks and stuff. I’m not sure what’s going on but the quality has definitely went down.

I recently dined at Maya’s Mexican Restaurant in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and had a mixed experience. I ordered the Enchiladas Supreme, which was a solid choice—well-prepared with a nice balance of flavors, though nothing particularly stood out as exceptional. The enchiladas were tasty, with a decent portion size, but I was disappointed to find that Mexican rice and beans, which used to come standard with every dinner entrée, are now charged as separate side dishes. This felt like a bit of a cash grab and left a sour taste, as it deviates from the traditional Mexican dining experience I’ve come to expect.

My friend ordered two beef burritos, and while they were flavorful and generously filled, we were both puzzled by the presentation. Instead of serving them on one plate, they arrived on separate plates, which seemed unnecessary and wasteful. The burritos themselves were good, but this odd choice detracted from the overall experience.

The service was adequate, and the atmosphere was pleasant enough, typical of a casual Mexican restaurant. However, the shift to charging for sides that were once included feels like a step backward and screams of greediness, which was a letdown. Maya’s is decent for a quick Mexican fix in Poplar Bluff, but these small missteps keep it from being great.

I’d give it a 3 out of 5—worth a visit, but don’t expect the full value you might hope for.

Awful. The sooner they close their doors the better.
We’re from Texas. We know good Mexican food. This place is just terrible. I feel like I lit a hundred dollar bill on fire and watched it turn to ashes.
Avoid.

You always get this one waiter he’s a male and he is very disgruntled. We sat and watched him get a tip and threw a fit and told everybody and showed what he got, and then he treated us very short and concerning and we still tipped him very good. But he still treated us each time we come in the same. Very disrespectful! So now we asked to eat in the bar or wherever he’s not being our waiter. The food is okay, we will probably go somewhere else going forward. We have given this place several several several chances and every time we get him it’s the same disrespectful he shouldn’t be made to feel that way when you choose to spend your hard-earned money at a restaurant.

Walked in and no host at the front, no sign either. I waited for a few minutes and figured I would just go seat myself. I walked around to find a good seat and one of the staff members saw me and ask “what do you want?” Not can I help or anything to that matter. I told him I want to eat and I need a table. He sat me down and gave me a menu. The waitress that attended to me was very nice and got everything I needed. The food was average. Nothing amazing.

Good food all around. Portions are large and they were willing to make my daughter a special order of carnitas nachos. Al pastor tacos looked and tasted great. Happy to visit this place each time we come into town to visit family.

Reasonable priced Mexican food and great spicy salsa if you ask. The air vents and wall near the table had some dust though and needs dusting. I was a bit afraid of it falling onto the table.
