Met a few friends for Sunday brunch here! They do have a bottomless brunch option if you’re into that. We didn’t get it, but their mimosas were so good.
All of us loveedddd our meals. I got the stacked brisket enchilada and it was soooo good. The brisket was cooked perfectly and the rice and beans on the side were yum too. I’d deff come back again for some Tex Mex goodness!

A buzzy UES gem that feeds the soul if you’re ever craving Tex-Mex in the city. My GF is from Austin, so she doesn’t play with her Tex-Mex. If she likes it, that’s all you need to know about Javelina.
The bevy of Margarita offerings scared me a bit, especially being able to have them frozen, but they were delicious. I ordered the Habanero and Peach with the Mezcal floater (a punchy marg to say the least) and my GF had a skinny marg. In her words “this is one of the best skinny margs I’ve had in the city”. More high praise- she’s had a lot of them.
The atmosphere was lively on a Thursday night and the decour was inviting without being kitschy (like so many Tex-Mex locations lean into). A diverse crowd, leaning towards mid-late 20s/early 30s, you could tell everyone was having a good time.
The queso was excellent, and the fajitas are clearly a crowd favorite- a sizzling platter is being walked out of the kitchen every few minutes. For the sides I really loved the black beans, very well seasoned. The Javelina salad was bright and fresh without being overly dressed, you could still taste the peppery notes of the arugala.
We will certainly be coming back the next time we’re craving queso and margs!

Javelina is great. I came in for a drink, and was pleasantly surprised with their margarita selections. They are very different (for example avocado cilantro and cucumber mezcal) and taste phenomenal! My waitress was Patty and she was amazing. Also Olivia the manager is GREAT, she’s done such a great job managing the restaurant and it was so good to see her yesterday. I will be back, next time for food and drinks.

As a native Texan who knows the 100+ differences between Mexican food and Tex-Mex …. I’ve found a legit Tex-Mex.
Where to start? Unlimited chips and salsa that’s not greasy and salsa is fresh (it would be incredible if heated – I will ask them to microwave it for me next time.)
The queso (white) is exactly how it’s supposed to be. Same with the cheese and onion enchiladas. Perfect. Refried beans. Perfect.
The waitstaff is also Texan so the hospitality is exactly as you’d expect expect (no offense New Yorkers). Purposeful energy and happily serving their guests. Relaxed fun vibe with good music.
I will be back often.

I was walking by when this place caught my eye. The server was exceptionally kind and welcoming, which I especially appreciated as a deaf customer.
I decided to try the steak quesadilla, having read favorable reviews, and it was just as good as advertised. The frozen margaritas were strong but delicious. This spot is definitely a great choice for brunch or a fun girls’ outing.

Really Cute Tex Mex Spot! Popped in on impulse Tuesday 11/05/23! The food was good, I just expect a bit of spice somewhere in my meals from any restaurant that considers themselves to be Mexican cuisine or Mexican cuisine inspired. But the food was great, and tasty. What it may have lacked in spices, it definitely made up in taste. The bartender was nice, since I sat at the bar. Atmosphere was calm and social/chatty. Definitely will be back, and I was definitely satisfied.

I’ve been coming to this and one of the other locations for the past few years because the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. That said, I came here a couple weeks ago as a party of six (reservation), and the service was a noticeably and purposely bad experience to the point that I’m leaving a review. I’ve been in NYC a while, and I’ve also worked in the service industry here, so I know it when I see it: the waitress was a little bit hostile. She lied at the end and said her computer software couldn’t split the check, our orders didn’t all come out until we asked again (in which case not only did she not care, but it was almost like we were the problem), our table didn’t get bussed in a reasonable manner, and towards the end, she said that we hit the end of our allotted time window, another reservation was waiting, and that we had to leave. When we left, no one was waiting and our table did not get seated. However, it doesn’t stop there: worst of all – on top of all this – she had the audacity to include a 20% tip automatically. Maybe she was inattentive and entitled because of the auto-gratuity. We were a very pleasant, nice group of people. It’s frustrating because I really like this place and plan to come back, but I hope the management sees this and takes it into account just so that this place stays a nice place to visit! Just tired of going to restaurants and paying as much as you do and getting “that” attitude from servers.

Really cute spot in the upper east side that has quality food for a good price!
Spicy margs were actually spicy, habanero queso was also super spicy, and the hot salsa was extremely hot. Recommend that if you get the hot salsa with your tacos, get it on the side! The Bob Armstrong queso was our favorite – we even topped our tacos with it.
I really wanted to try the Birria enchiladas, but they were already sold out by 7pm! Will definitely be back to try those.
