Really cute place on the square for a nice lunch. The vibes were small town and the food was delicious! Love supporting the classics, highly recommend your lunch here! Loved my potato shrimp soup, sooo good!

Sweet Mags is a DT Gainesville staple for lunch. The owners are so kind and I’ve never had anything I didn’t love. The tomato basil soup is great when it’s a cold day or the BLT and a side of fruit in the summer. Their chicken salad is great too!

Tasty, affordable, speedy lunch on the Square. Truly the best chicken salad on the planet. If you’re more a salad kind of person, their pecan dressing is sweet and tangy perfection on a Cobb salad. Save room for dessert – great cookies, brownies and giant hello dolly’s!
We have been going about once a month for the last several months and the food and service is always great.
Pro tip: Call in your order! It will be ready in 10 minutes and you can walk right up to the counter and grab it, skipping the big line that forms at lunch time!

I have fond memories of going to Sweet Magnolia’s Cafe & Bakery. I remember when my dad to take me here for lunch back when they were still on the Washington Street side of the square and order their special of a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup. I decided to go to their new location within the Main Street market to have lunch with a friend. The atmosphere and service when we walked in was welcoming and kind. I ordered an Asian Turkey club sandwich with potato salad while my friend had a Chicken Salad sandwich with chicken & rice soup. Both of our meals were good and filling. It looks like after all these years, Sweet Magnolia’s is still the go to place in town for some nice sandwiches.

After reading the reviews, I wanted to give Sweet Magnolia a try. Now I realize I am from NY, but ONE slice of Turkey, did they run out? The sandwich and salad were tasty, but $15.00 later I shouldn’t feel hungry already!

I delight in every meal at Sweet Magnolia’s where the selections are endless, and FRESH. The owners consistently welcome me with genuine gratitude of being in each other’s presence. My favorites are the Turkey Reuben and Cobb Salad On one cold day I had a grilled cheese sandwich and chili – superb!

This review is for takeout. We picked up food at 1:30 pm on a Monday. It was pretty crowded and tables were not socially distanced. They don’t require masks for customers, but employees were wearing masks. They do encourage social distancing with spots marked on the floor for waiting in line.
We got Rebecca’s Famous Chicken Salad Sandwich with Pasta Salad ($8.49). The chicken salad was very good. The sour dough was perfectly buttered and toasted. The Pasta Salad was too drenched in Italian dressing. I wouldn’t get that again. We also got the Turkey Club with Egg Salad ($8.49). The Turkey Club was fine. The Egg Salad was very mayonnaise-y, but it was nicely peppered. We would probably go with chips or just skip sides altogether if we were to go again.
You get in line to order, then you’re given a number to wait. I was surprised that they still use the physical numbers, especially in Covid times. That was gross.
The man who took our order, who I believe is the owner, was very nice and friendly.
Overall, Covid precautions could definitely improved, but the food was good!

Update: the avocado bacon salad is good but not my favorite. Otherwise, still wonderful.
Very good salad and a super cute location! Highly recommended!

I’ve eaten here three times in the past two weeks. Each lunch I’ve had has been perfect! Today, I chose the tomato basil soup and it was exactly as warm and tasty as I knew it would be. Sweet Magnolia’s Cafe does not disappoint.
