My dearest friend and I were driving home from Asheville, and we wanted good Mexican food not far off our route. As a child living in New Mexico, so many of the good Mexican restaurants were small “dives,” much like the Henderson Mexican Restaurant, that I was instantly taken back to 65 years ago…
Let me tell you, this little restaurant did not disappoint us!
Both their green and red salsas was unbelievably delicious, with the perfect amount of heat and fabulous flavor.
My (vegetarian) cheese enchiladas, with rice and beans were some of the best I’ve had in years!
Ellen ordered the tacos and honestly, I don’t think I can remember a meal where we both ate everything off our plates, it was that good.
Added to the delicious fare, that the family was friendly and courteous, the service was faultless and the restaurant and bathroom were very clean, and well, what’s not to love?!?!

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this is the best place in the area. The taco meats are seasoned just right and the salsas are on point, just the right amount of heat and flavorful. The place is small, bathroom are clean and the ladies are friendly.

A true hidden gem. Everything is homemade, down to the tortillas. The family who runs it is very sweet. The ribs on Friday and Saturday are lights out. Don’t be scared by it’s appearance, the food will not let you down.

Love their tacos for a quick lunch. I keep it simple and authentic with just cilantro and onions. Then I add both of their salsas. The green is just the right amount of kick, nothing too crazy. But the red one, use sparingly! I came with a friend one time, and he said he felt like he was transported to Mexico when he walked in.
