This was my first time at the new Firehouse Subs in Bastrop, and unfortunately it was pretty disappointing. I ordered a bowl of chili but was given what looked like a cup portion (or less) in a bowl size and still charged for a bowl. The ice machine was also broken, which I understand happens, but the manager’s response was rude and dismissive — “Ice machine is broken, nothing I can do about it,” with no effort to offer a solution or alternative.
As someone who has worked in the service industry, I know this could’ve been handled much better. A friendlier response and offering alternatives—like cold bottled water or soda, which they had in the fridge—would have gone a long way. Also letting customers know the ice machine is down before they purchase a drink could also help avoid frustration.
On a positive note, the meatball sub was very good. The food itself was solid, but the customer service and management could definitely use improvement.

Ordered through the app, drove in from elgin to bastrop to pick up order that has a sticker saying it was “double checked” to find a pickle leaking pickle juice through the paper on my sandwhich. It may be a small thing but to find this after I left because I trusted they would get my order right is disappointing.

I recommend using the app to order and taking it to-go because seating is limited and this new store is popular. I’ve already eaten here 3 times this week! Their sandwiches are delicious! It’s a new store, so have patience if you have to wait a little bit for them to get your order just right. Their app has good coupons.

This establishment has a long way to go. I know it just opened, but the visit was a real pain. I’m not sure I’d return even if it did get better. The wait times and food wasn’t good.
The order taker was nice, she told us there would be a wait, but the wait time was grossly under estimated. We were told 20-25 minutes, but it turned out 50 minutes, for two sandwiches. I ordered a cold sandwich to boot, but turned out toasted instead.
As far as the interior goes, it wasn’t dirty or messy, but there wasn’t a single table available and they were not occupied by dine-in customers either, every single person there at every table was a to-go customer waiting on their order as well.
