The menu is small, but it’s executed perfectly. The fish nuggets were hot and fresh. Seasoned well with a light batter. Didn’t even need sauce. Obviously, you must order fish here, but don’t sleep on the sweet potato cabbage pancake. It’s like a remix okonomiyaki, and is one of the best things I ate this year. Small counter seating inside as well as a patio. Vibes and service are top notch. GHF is a must when in AVL.

An incredible addition to Asheville’s dining scene. The menu is unique for the area, drawing on coastal Carolina fish fry ups in innovative ways. The classic fried fish sandwich is a must. The trout bologna was also so good, and really unique, as is the sweet potato pancake. There’s not much room to dine in so you may have to wait a while.

What a great experience! The place is limited inside for seating but the food is simply awesome and brings the experience. Sitting close to others enjoying the food and feeling the connection is hard to describe. Hot fish sandwich was seasoned well, crispy and delicious. I’ve had catfish sandwich at Rodney Scott’s in Charleston and this was better. The sauce was very tasty and everything meshed together for a great bite every time. The fish nuggets were also very tasty with two sauces that worked well with everything on the plate. If you might be hesitant because you aren’t a fish person, you will be missing out on a great meal. Everyone there was friendly and helpful, this place is a must stop every time we are in Asheville.

I’ve been wanting to try this raved about restaurant-and today was my day. I was originally going for flounder, but switched to catfish when flounder wasn’t available. Cat fish isn’t my favorite, but I actually LOVED this dish. Worth the hype -and the special gives you a great amount, finishing the end of my order as I type this review. Delicious

Wow!! This place is incredible! The service was great, they explained the whole menu to us and made great recommendations. We got the trout salmon and good hot fish sandwich, as well as the special; CRAB FRIES! Everything came out fast and HOT. It was delicious! We are so happy we went here for lunch! Watching the staff work like a well oiled machine was amazing. They really have this place dialed in. The music and atmosphere was also fun and energetic. Thank you for a great meal Good Hot Fish!! Just had lunch. My son had fish nuggets, I had the catfish plate. Both were excellent. Hush puppies were really good. Hot slaw reminded me of Southern chow chow. Fish is fried and very light. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back

Yum!!! Asheville is seriously lacking when it comes to good food that has SEASONING & FLAVOR, but Good Hot Fish is different. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and crispy. It’s a big portion and the sides were great too. They sweet tea was delicious. Friendly & fast service and fun atmosphere (I’m also very glad to see a restaurant that isn’t owned & run by white people in this town lol) check this place out you won’t regret it!

All the food I tried was great! Fish, hush puppies, collards, sweet potato-cabbage pancake…This is a no frills get in, smash great food into your face hole, and leave content, kind of place. I’m looking forward to going back again!

Absolutely unbelievable. We live a few hours away and are constantly plotting schemes to get to this place. It feels crazy saying it, but I can confidently say the best seafood I’ve ever had is in the mountains of North Carolina.
Special shout-out to Fletcher behind the
register. Amazing service!

What a fun spot!! Sometimes the simplest menus allow for the best cooking and that is certainly the case here. The fish we had was so flavorful and wonderfully crisp. The sides were all spectacular with special shout out to the mac n’ cheese. To be honest, I’m still thinking about the cap’n crick sauce. Amazing food and incredible vibes, a must stop in Asheville!
