Meh – the first time I tried this place I was not impressed but loved the drive through option. The guac was damn near frozen which I didn’t expect. I decided to not leave feedback the first time (2 months ago) and give them another shot this evening and sad to say I’m still not impressed. The chips are always stale and unflavorful. The chicken was bland and the lettuce was soggy and didn’t taste right, looked brown- certainly not fresh by any means. I think since they have the drive through they have several things premade and frozen to have easily ready and that’s the problem. The chips in the paper bags were so greasy as if they had been sitting in the bag for the last week I had to put it in a container. Nothing is fresh. I don’t foresee a need to go back which makes me sad. I had high hopes.

First time. A+ I went in the drive thru and it didn’t take long for my order. Took it to the park and it was absolutely delicious. Steak quesadillas with added deluxe option, California burrito, and cheesecake strawberry treats. Came with warm chips and some salsa too! I hope to try the taco salad next time!

The food was good. They did alright for the bigger order we had through the drive-thru. My order was not correct, and I think that is why I have not been back there since. Menu shown in pictures. I like they have a drive-thru option so you don’t have to go inside.

Loved my food! They were able to put my queso on the side and my margarita was STRONG. They do a fantastic job at following CDC guidelines and making you feel safe and keeping things clean and sanitized. Definitely coming back for their Monday specials!

I ordered the four street taco plate and I received three tacos with the fourth being just tortillas. I highly recommend dining in for this product. I also had to put them together myself. I recommend going to Maria’s on Hickman, they have a better salsa bar there.

I went through the drive-thru at Monterrey Express and wow… the food was amazing! I tried the churros (so good!) and for the tacos my favorites were definitely the pastor and asada. The spicy salsa hit just right too. I’m being super honest when I say this—coming from a Mexican girlie, this place is worth it!

Me and my partner went to grab lunch at this place and both of us got sick . It was the first meal of the day . When we got home from the restaurant we start feeling sick and running to the bathroom. I guess this was my first time getting food poisoning here in Des Moines area . The weird fact is : we did a review before and just disappeared! I had the carnitas and farrita burritos. SHAME!

Missed the drive-thru, so walked in on a Friday night to order carry-out.
Staff were pleasant and helpful. My order was ready in minutes, exactly as ordered.
We chose the veggie fajita quesadillas, expecting just peppers and onions for the “fajita” portion. Favorably impressed to find lots of veggies inside, including sauteed broccoli and zucchini. So tasty!
Very generous portions at reasonable prices.

Just got my food, 20 minutes ago, they are half portioning the burritos in barely giving any type of protein in them. I ordered the Texas burrito there was more lettuce and tomatoes than steak, chicken, and shrimp. There was barely any cheese dip on my chicken and rice. I spent 70$ and I’m very disappointed.
