She told me..”We’ll go to the Berkeley Bowl for lunch” and I said..”Will we have time to eat and get a match in” She laughed, and said “It’s not a bowling alley” Boy..was I happy about that, because I haven’t been bowling in years! I had an amazing lunch at the Berkeley Bowl West Café, a simple egg salad sandwich was perfect in every detail, and we’ll worth the stop!

I love being able to get a snack before going in to shop. The cafe employees are so friendly, and the pop ups they started doing post pandemic is fun and brings an exciting variety of cuisines. The only fly in the ointment is that they recently started playing annoying pop music over their PA system, making it feel like Im at a Walmart instead of the best grocery store in the world. Please stop playing the corporate chain store music.

Vibe is awful when it’s busy. The barista can’t make a good espresso drink. She served me a scalding hot cappuccino that looked awful. Never going back. The entire store is a frustrating experience, no wonder the cafe is just as bad.

This morning, I picked up 4 jars of coffee for a professional meeting. The order was supposed to be ready at 8:30 a.m., but it was actually ready at 8:45 a.m. I didn’t mind the 15-minute delay, but the woman in charge of our order was extremely disrespectful and rude. One of the cardboard coffee boxes was covered with coffee, so I asked her to replace it. She reluctantly did so. Throughout the interaction, she never smiled or used polite phrases like “hi,” “thank you,” or “please.” My colleague, who was with me, was so shocked by her behavior that she told the employee her attitude was disrespectful. The employee did not respond or apologize. She kept her hoodie on her head the entire time. This will be the last time I order from here.
