Awesome deli spot in Lawrenceville. The food is super fresh and made relatively quickly, still warm when you pick it up if you order takeout. And a very reasonable sized menu with solid (but not huge) portions. I got to try their caprese with pesto panini.
It was absolutely delicious. I believe they make most of the sauces in house (like the pesto and artichoke sauce). The bread is crispy on the edges and soft in the middle, the cheese is fresh, the vegetables are super fresh, and the pesto is delicious. It’s just a great sandwich. And, it even comes with a nice pickle spear!
All in all, definitely recommend this spot for lunch. The caprese is so good!

I started working in Lawrenceville a couple months ago and decided to go here on my lunch break. Staff was so nice and welcoming. I ordered the turkey bacon ranch sandwich hot and not spicy. The guy calling out the orders told me they accidentally made my order spicy so they had to start over. I told him it’s not a problem and was happy to wait. He apologized and told me to grab a free drink on my way out. It was absolutely worth the wait. Will definitely add this to my list of lunch spots when I don’t want to pack.

What a fantastic place. I’ve eaten at plenty of different places around the country, but this place was by far one of top places on my list of most favorites. I got the Tutti with the deli oil it. As soon as I unwrapped it I could smell it. The amount of meat on this thing was unbelievable and the flavor was to die for. I got the foot long so I could have something to eat on my way back to Richmond, it didn’t make it off the Penn Turnpike. I know where I’m eating next time I’m in town. The staff was fantastic. Jazz and Kam were polite and friendly. They made you feel at home and they topped of the experience with their great smiles and attitude. Also spoke with the owner Gary. I love it when an owner comes out and interacts with customers. 100% class act of a place.

11/3/2025 I decided to give this place a try for lunch. My day was gloomy and continues to be because I just found out I have to euthanize my fur baby of 11 years, my sweet Piper Lola, and I am heartbroken and nearly impossible to formulate thoughts or complete sentences w/o getting choked up. My point in sharing the personal details is to give a HUGE shoutout to the young lady working the register on this day. Your kindness empathy and compassion was truly heartfelt and definitely brought a smile. Class act move with the thoughtfulness behind your actions and so deserving of recognition. Thank you for bringing a little sunshine into my breaking heart. Oh and the food was scrumptious

Looking for a top-rated deli in Pittsburgh, stop at this one for lunch and then walk up and down the street popping into the local shops. I enjoyed the hot pastrami panini and my daughter liked their chili. My wife’s hoagie was average. One perk is that they have free chocolate at the register for all.

Deli on Butler never misses! Their sandwiches are top-tier, but I’m locked in on the Cuban, easily the best in town. Perfectly pressed, loaded with flavor, and just the right amount of crunch. The whole crew is great, but Pete? Absolute legend. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out!

Been craving a muffaletta since I visited New Orleans last year. As far as I know this is the only deli in Pittsburgh that makes one. Man, they delivered! Was so good. I’ll definitely be coming back.

This is your hometown Deli to the max! Excellent food at a reasonable price! The Italian panini was outstanding! The roasted red peppers really brought out the flavor of the sandwich. The garlic pickles were excellent. The potato salad is some of the best ever! The ordering area is small but efficient. The dining area was full, so clearly a favorite, especially when you see a firetruck pull up and multiple firefighters have ordered. Definitely a must try place!

Deli on Butler is a cool little neighborhood place to grab a quick and simple lunch.
I ordered the wedding soup which was pretty good.
I was disappointed with my sandwich though. I ordered the Marie, pastrami on rye with swiss, Cole slaw and deli sauce, warmed in a panini press. This is where the problem occurred. The bread was over toasted, basically burnt. After a few bites that burnt bread taste over powered my palate.
I still gave them 4 stars because the staff (I believe the owner was working the counter and took my order) seemed honest and hardworking and I appreciated their warmth.

I am disappointed to see that this deli allows dogs inside the establishment. This is a place where food is prepared and served, and having animals in that environment is unsanitary, inappropriate and flat out disgusting.
We have become too comfortable treating animals as if they are humans. Now it seems like everyone is labeling their dogs as emotional support animals to justify bringing them everywhere.
This is a food establishment.. Animals should be left outside or at home its that simple!!
