Lito Saldana, the chef-owner behind 5 Tacos & Beers & Los Moles Restaurants around the bay area, is bringing the Mexican beer garden concept to the former Tender Greens space in downtown Walnut Creek. They’ll serve five different daily tacos, such as beef short ribs marinated in barbacoa adobo, made with organic meats and produce and handmade tortillas, along with 30 to 40 local craft beers from the custom keg room. Also, look for a weekend taco brunch with live music. Opening Soon!

Went here with our work team for a dinner, quick service and generous portions! Our busser was particularly kind. We enjoyed a plate of 10 tacos and 5 quesabirria, all were delicious. 2-3 items per person was plenty of food. Churros were tasty but a little doughy, would probably skip next time

Great place to go for good Mexican food. It is all street parking in a busy part of the city, so parking can be tough to find. It’s worth it for the tacos though! I sat at the bar, had a Fortaleza margarita (which was amazing) and watched them make the tortillas for my tacos. I will be coming back for sure.

The beer menu is really good, I got a Del Cielo Hazy, but there was a ton of other localish options, so that was cool.
The Tacos were fine, the wife and I both agreed that most would have benefitted from some salt, and that’s the missing star. The Tortillas were house made I think, and they were great though.
The Chips & Salsa were decent, but not exceptional.
The Birria Taco was pretty good though so if I got back, I’ll probably just get the tray of BIrria Tacos.

5 tacos and a beers is a really great place to go and have some really authentic Mexican food along with some really good beers but that’s not all they also have a nice cocktail selection as well. The atmosphere here is absolutely perfect and the staff is incredibly nice and inviting I recommend you guys to come out to Walnut Creek and enjoy the tacos and beer from five tacos and beers!

The food is very mid. Every time I come here I leave and say – never let me come here again. I’ve given them some many opportunities but no one is really ever happy with the food – the taste or quality. The chips are terrible (thick and processed tasting, not fresh). The salsa is completely tasteless. The margaritas look pretty but taste terrible. If you’ve ever had Puesto, those margaritas are amazing. The tacos are odd selections – no Al pastor, no carne asada and super expensive. The ones I tried this weekend that were pork were drenched in sauce and the tacos fell apart. They had bones in them. The birria tacos are ok but also drenched in oil and also no flavor. The ambiance outside is nice but the chairs are hard as rocks. I like the live music but without good food it’s bland. I also have tried the churros on two occasions and they always tell me they ran out of vanilla ice cream and offer me strawberry. One time I said no and they “found” the vanilla and replaced it but it still tasted like strawberry and the churros had gotten cold. Service is hit or miss too. Fast with food, slow with drinks. I want to love this place bc of the location and good vibes that could be possible but I think I’ll just go to Melos next door instead.
