The atmosphere was appealing. The restaurant was clean. The staff was polite. The food was very good. The portions were very good for the price paid. One of the plates was teriyaki chicken. I was only able to eat a little bit and was going to take the rest home. The staff asked me if I was okay and if I liked the food or if I needed something else. I really appreciated that they cared about how I felt about the food. The rice was well cooked and was not crunchy from being undercooked.

I’m on a side quest to find the tastiest katsu in the valley, and these reviews were too good for me to pass up.
Using the classic S/A/B/C/D/F tier grading system, Grill N Chop’s katsu earns an “F” rating. The chicken was so dry and tough it might as well have been jerky. Teriyaki sauce is a strange and unwelcome condiment for katsu; I much prefer a more traditional katsu sauce. Lastly, the bowl is straight up boring, with no cabbage or veggies or anything to break up the monotony of soggy overcooked rice and unpleasantly chewy chicken. Super disappointed. Grill N Chop fails at Katsu.
They do, however, thrive at customer service. The woman at the register was friendly and patient with us. My daughter’s ramen broth was crisp and bright with a solid depth of flavor. “A” tier broth.
I hope they break up with the Katsu, and soon.

Super fast and friendly service. They explained the menu to me and my friend, since it was an unfamiliar cuisine to us. There was some great authentic options, and they were able to help us choose some great items that we had never tried before.
They took every precaution to keep my food and me safe. They used tongs to serve up our cups and other things. This impressed us, because other places would just sloppily touch and handle things.
They even served us quickly at our table and gave us other little extras to make our experience there awesome!
Can’t wait to go back and bring my family. I am amazed at how good Japanese food is and look forward to trying their other dishes!

The service was very attentive from the moment we walked in. Everything ordered was delicious, and I highly recommend the avacado sushi roll and build your own bento box option! We will definitely make it a point to stop in again soon.

This Japanese restaurant was very good. They have an array of offerings and I got a bento box. The prices are good. The food was excellent. The decor is very homely, but it is comforting. Overall, this is a great place to go and eat. They also do takeout and the wait times are low. delicious food. Locally owned. Family owned. Great place for teriyaki tempura or Ramen.

Grill n Chop in Gilbert is a decent spot for a quick, easy, and convenient meal. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, the setup is straightforward–you order at the counter, and the menu offers a variety of options like teriyaki, salads, sushi, and ramen. I ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki salad along with an Alaska roll. Both came out quickly, served in disposable packaging. While both dishes were good, I preferred the beef over the chicken.
The salad could have benefited from some salt and pepper, but none was readily available.

The service was friendly, though there was a small issue with the screen when signing, which wasn’t a big deal since they weren’t busy. Worse than Yogis and expensive for very poor quality food.
The shrimp were literally not edible and were hard as a rock,
The Udon is nothing like real udon and they screwed up with the same weird lab made looking shrimp, no tempura as it should be.
The dumplings taste terrible with an off flavor.
California roll didn’t have cucumber but was decent.
Would never order from them again.
