Reviews
I usually go for the #9 with a side of tendon and the chicken fried rice — all consistently delicious. The broth is rich and flavorful, the tendon is tender, and the fried rice is a solid comfort food option.
Highly recommend if you’re craving great pho without the wait or the high price tag.
I’d rate 4-stars if it weren’t for the inconsistent and less-than-friendly service. Dining is generally supposed to be a a pleasant experience. Most of the wait staff don’t seem to take this to heart. Just dig deep and fake the smile if you can’t find one to genuinely share. Read the similar service-related comments here from other people. Remember, your customers have plenty of other Pho restaurants nearby to choose from.
Parking is plentiful, though can be challenging as the lot is shared with Costco.
House of Pho in South San Jose is a decent Vietnamese restaurant. One standout feature is the generous portion sizes of their dishes.
For example, in their Vermicelli, I was pleasantly surprised to find two full egg rolls included in the dish, which was a great addition. However, it might have been more practical if they were cut into smaller pieces, as is more common for this dish.
If you’re exceptionally hungry and looking for a satisfying meal that offers great value for your money, this is a place to consider. Parking can be a bit of a challenge due to its location in a strip mall shared with Costco and Trader Joe’s. But once you secure a spot, you’ll be rewarded with both quality and quantity in your meal.
All in all, the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes, and the food is quite tasty.
Cons: the unfriendliest server; she never smiled and had a grumpy look at each interaction!
We asked to have just shrimp in the spring roll and they just removed the pork and didn’t substitute with shrimp, and each roll cane with two half a shrimp!!
House of pho is located in a shopping center. There’s plenty of free parking.
Inside they have plenty of seating.
Service fast fast , friendly and efficient.
The pho was delicious. Very flavorful.
The menu has a big selection.
Definitely recommend especially on a cold day.
What bothered me is that the broth had hardly any flavor AND it tasted like a dirty kitchen towel. Once we bit into the noodles they tasted even stronger of dirty kitchen towel… truly disgusting.
I don’t know what is good or bad about Pho but I did like the number 1 beef combo. The large bowl was a little too much for me. A small would have been enough.
Sorry I don’t know enough to make a serious review.
There is lack of service here which is culturally how pho places are. But I found that my entree had no flavor at all. Plate #43 (house special) but nothing special about it!
Based on other reviewers, they said the same thing for other dishes. I do not recommend this place nor will I be coming back.
