Amazing!!! Hidden gem, not freezer section food!! This was such a pleasant surprise to our roadtrip!
(PS: the little town park and public fishing dock across the street are a nice place to walk off the amazing meal)

We traveled to Louisiana to drive up the historic route of 3049. We found this recently and decided to make the drive over to see the sites. The time to go is in June when the flowers are blooming, but we went anyway. It is a very pretty drive, but as it came time to eat, we couldn’t find a restaurant. That’s when we saw this one in Gilliam. It was nearly 2 p.m., and we were not sure they would seat us. When we walked in, they met us at the door and showed us a seat. They said it was no problem and took our orders. The food came out quickly and was hot. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, and my wife had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The restaurant was nice and clean. If you’re driving 3049, stay on it till you get to Gilliam and eat at the Main Street restaurant. You’ll be glad you did.

This is a gem hidden in Gillum La. The food is like grandma makes, large portions and excellent service. It doesn’t matter if you are alone or a large group they have you. Will not disappoint. Highly recommend. I had their fish last time but have had hamburger, Dailey specials, steak everything I’ve tried is great!!!

On our way home back to Memphis from Shreveport we were looking for some top notch food that was off the beaten path. We were getting a little worried as we were almost to the Arkansas state line and hadn’t had any luck when Main Street popped up on our radar. Looking at the reviews we figured we’d give it a shot especially since it wasn’t too far out of our way.
Pulling up we were sure what to expect as the joint definitely looked like a hole in the wall. Waking through the door our worries started to melt away. Everyone at our table tried something different and EVERYTHING was simply amazing. Price wasn’t bad at all and the quality and quantity of food was outstanding. We definitely recommend trying the crawfish bread appetizer.
If you ever find yourself in the area don’t miss getting to try this amazing place!!

We found this place on Google maps as we were driving up I-49. Just a short way off the highway and we’ll worth it. Note that the lunch hours are 11-2. I had the chicken fried steak which was well flavored and crispy. Mashed potatoes were tasty and the pinto beans were excellent. The hot water cornbread reminded me of deep fried grits and was very good.
Wife had the grilled catfish over rice with vegetable medley. Fish was flaky and nicely done.

We decided to take a nice bike ride out into the country, and our cousin suggested this place for lunch. We were so pleased with the place! The food was real home cooking, and just like your mama or your favorite aunt would make! The cakes looked delicious, but we didn’t order because we were so full from our scrumptious lunch and needed room to get back on our bikes! If you like to visit some off the beaten path, this little spot is just the place. What I have learned, you never know what you’ll find until you look for something different!

I’ve been on a journey to find a good chicken fried steak in this area and I am happy to say that I’ve finally found it. This place is my new favorite and I will be more than happy to make the drive to come back regularly. The food was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The quality of the ingredients was evident. The owner/chef stopped by to check on us and chat. The care he has and the pride he takes in what he does was readily apparent. Listening to him talk about his restaurant gave me a fresh and renewed love for this industry that working in the industry can take away from you sometimes. This was a wonderfully pleasant experience all around and I cannot wait to come back.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I can’t say enough great things about the Main Street Restaurant. Upon walking in you are greeted by a lovely host. The environment is very warm and inviting. Once you’ve sat down you are again greeted by a nice young waitress with a smile on her face that tells you she loves her job. The Menu is large featuring 4 pages. They have it all. From huge burgers with fries, pastas, seafood, fish, steaks, frog leg dinner platters, country fried steak, and lots of variety of appetizers. Crab claws, Onion rings ,cheese sticks. You name it. We both enjoyed the DELICIOUS country fried steak that was paired with fresh steamed broccoli and homemade creamy mashed potatoes and garlic toast. We drank delicious sweet tea and took 2 pieces of chocolate pie to go. I highly recommend stopping in if you ever find yourself in Gilliam, la.
