The food was terrible. I ordered orange chicken, fried rice and eggrolls. The very first bite of the chicken was pure grisle. The rest of the chicken wasnt much better, with the texture reminding me more of chicken that was leftover after all the good parts were cut off. It was either crunchy or tough, and the orange sauce want orange – it was more like some thick, congealed brown sauce. The rice wasnt fried rice. It was white rice colored brown, with none of the other stuff that is usually in fried rice like carrot bits and peas. It had no flavor, and I had to dump soy sauce all over it to make it palatable. The egg rolls lacked much filling and didn’t have much flavor. They appeared to be more wrap than anything else. I won’t be ordering from China Inn again. To say the food was subpar is an understatement.

Been coming here for over a decade. Staff is fantastic, and the food is amazing. Always have loved the “stuck in an Era” decor on the interior. I’ve scoured the menus top to bottom, left to right. I’ve never been disappointed. My go-to is the Garlic spare rib tip dinner. Extra spicy, extra sauce. Just so many great food options, and tastes for everyone.

My family has been coming here for over 20 years, I grew up getting carry-out regularly. In my 18 years, this place had had completely consistent delicious food, great prices, and wonderful service. It’s quite obvious to me that the owners are incredibly hard-working, virtuous people. I’d highly recommend China Inn, for it’s own sentimental value to me, but also for the DELICIOUS, authentic food!!!

Seemed to be an overwhelming amount of veggies and only a couple shrimp on the small. The flavor was good though, the rice was good. Shrimp egg roll was a bit greasy but not bad overall. Wouldn’t go back, but wasn’t a bad meal, just nothing special or over the top.

When I was 14 years old my father brought in Szechuan chicken from this place and I’ve never really diverted from this place. I’m 39 and the owners know exactly what I want and I really appreciate this facility!!!!

Went in for a thanksgiving meal. This place is clean, the people are friendly, and the food was the best Chinese food I’ve had in iowa, in my opinion. Highly recommend you try once and form.your own opinion

The new location at 1st Ave and 14th St is open and awesome. Some of the former Xavier’s is preserved including the big booths. Windows, decor and music are added. Their food is always good and prepared fast at a fair price. Most always order crab Rangoon, fried rice, then an additional something new, always good.

I’m truly not satisfied with the service I received from China Inn Restaurant today. I ordered shrimp with broccoli, which comes with white rice for $16.85. I also ordered rib tips, for $8.85. I only received the shrimp & the so called rib tips. They forgot to send the rice. But the most disappointing thing was the fact that my total order was over $25, with the boxes half full. I hope this is not something they do often. This is not good business!

I came in for lunch right after I had my eyes dilated. I told the guy I couldn’t read the menu and then I wanted a certain dish. He did not give me the lunch price he gave me the full price. I spent almost 20 bucks. It wasn’t all that good anyway. I decided that I will no longer associate with that business.
