Tried some new things I haven’t before like the Borscht soup, fantastic by the way. True smash burger (get the one named after the place) and the best crème brûlée I’ve ever had!

Von Blaze’s ramen takeover night is the stuff of dreams! The amount of love and prep work that goes into it can be tasted in every bite. A Morgantown experience like no other! The flavors are married with meticulous care. Serotonin rushes and sense memories await, whether old or newly discovered. Their regular menu is nothing to sneeze at either. Whether it’s handcrafted bologna sandwiches or the crisp, refreshing divinity of their pickle salad, Von Blaze does not disappoint.

The menu is very unique and interesting. A lot of different styles of food that appeals to many taste buds. The drummies are two lollipop chicken drums coated with different type sauces. I tried the “Bruno” style- Japanese style of sweet, salty, tiny spicy. It was probably the best chicken drumstick I’ve ever had. I laid tried their Green Goddess salad (no anchovies) with grilled chicken and small side of fries. Both excellent! My husband had the Pot Liquor Pork sandwich and it was huge in size and very good.
One of the menu items is a patrons choice and that changes with every menu change and proceeds to charity. We also tried their local beers and for $15 you can buy the staff a round, which we did. 🙂
The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back next time we are in Morgantown.

I’ve been going to Von Blaze since it opened and I usually enjoy the food. This time, not so much.
First thing I noticed was the menu seemed to be mimicking so many others around town with smash burgers and some random chicken sandwich… nothing like they used to have with a few really creative dinner dishes.
We ordered the Currywurst loaded fries and they were great. Evenly topped, hot fresh, all around excellent!
That’s about where it ended.
The kale in my salad tasted like it hadn’t been well washed, gritty sandy in the curls, and it wasn’t very fresh. Light yellow colors throughout the leaves, grilled chicken wasn’t bad.
My husband’s grilled cheese w bacon was good (shout out to the local bread baker), but his soup and the soup flight we had were disappointing. French onion wasn’t bad but the tomato and cheddar ale were insanely salty and tasted like concentrates. Tomatoes in the soup were clearly canned chunks and I mean like 2inch chunks and in a small bowl it meant just a few sips of soup around them.
Really just disappointed and hope they get back to how it used to be with quality delicious dishes, made in house with pride.

I don’t know why there can’t be more places like Von Blaze. The menu is inventive and everything we have eaten here has been exceptional. It is a hidden gem!
I had to add to this review now that we have experienced the brunch.
Our sisters were in from out of town for a class reunion and wanted to meet up before they left. I knew exactly where to go of course!
If we are in Morgantown it is always Von Blaze that I choose. The brunch was exceptional.
Kudos to the chef for bringing such great flavors together and always having options for those of us with dietary restrictions.
I had the grits and greens with the house made sausage and egg. I saved enough for breakfast before work today. Soooo good, even reheated!!
The girls loved their selections and said their classmates gave their thumbs up when they told them where we were going to dine.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal at Von Blaze! We ordered the Cuban Hand Cut Fries, The Dom chicken sandwich and the Snowshoe bologna sandwich. For dessert we had the burnt cheesecake. Everything was delicious and the portions were extremely generous. I’d highly recommend this restaurant!

My second visit to Von Blaze and I was somewhat disappointed in the overall experience. The dinner service is clearly understaffed – we were not greeted nor acknowledged for a few minutes even though we had reservations. After being seated, getting attention was a bit of a struggle. Though she spread too thin, our server was enthusiastic and funny.
The food was also disappointing. The braised beef was under seasoned and quite bland. The beer cheese extremely bitter. Loaded fries were under loaded. Chicken schnitzel was the highlight dish and cooked well, though a bit greasy. Overall I unfortunately did not leave very satisfied. Hoping that they are able to hire additional help.

The food was delicious just messy. We both got a sandwich and end up having to use knife and fork but the bun couldn’t hold up. The drummies are soo good, tried Bruno style this time
