A unique coffee shop that enjoys a twist on its name, a parody of the more famous GM Proving Grounds test track. Don’t be fooled, just like it’s counterpart, this coffee house and ice cream shop puts out some awesome stuff! Coffee, mocha, cappuccino and of course ice cream, are all available at this awesome coffee house! Take in the nostalgic feeling decor as you enjoy a hot coffee, especially as the weather cools off here in southeast Michigan! Come enjoy a nice coffee or ice cream during your next visit!

If I could give 6 stars I would! My husband and I have been in town all week and visited every night. Where do I begin? House-made syrups, fresh roasted fair trade beans, Guernsey ice cream, beautiful indie/rustic decor & lighting, and “Marvel” tip jar competitions?! Sweet/Friendly staff. Everything was equally delicious & delightful.

Cool place to pop in for coffee or ice cream, take a meeting or “work from home”. Plenty of seating. Chill environment. Music volume is perfect. Staff is friendly and helpful. They serve hot coffee, hot cocoa, cold brew, pour overs and much more! They even roast their own coffee beans!! What?! During my brief visit today, the place was frequented by dad’s and kids, business professionals, church members and teens – hanging out. What a fun space!

Really like the coffee. The employees were a bit rude mainly the one taking our order. Service was quick though. I had the oatmilk latte with vanilla and lavender and an avocado toast. They were busy which I completely understand but I don’t think that excuses the shortness and rudeness while my order is getting taken.

Ah, Proving Grounds… what a gem! This place has become synonymous with warm memories for me, my coworkers, and my family. My daughter lovingly calls it “the one with the ice cream cones,” which just melts my heart.
The staff are always pleasant and helpful, the food is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. It’s a spot I find myself recommending often, both in my personal life and my work life, because it never disappoints.
Proving Grounds truly has a special place in our routine, and I’m grateful for the experiences we’ve had here.

As you can see from the pictures posted, The dishes are so yummy and the coffee, particularly the mocha latte is fresh and delish! Walking into the establishment, I can smell the fresh ground coffee even through my mask and settle into one of their unique chairs and really take in the atmosphere. James and his wife has owned this quaint business for a few years and boasts a solid business even during Covid. I have to check out their Northville location which is perfect for all adults but you can bring the kids so they can romp on the upper floor for hours of entertainment and beautiful graphics of the creatures from our oceans. I highly recommend this place! Oh, by the way. I had the Amp. Very delicious and filling. I love the avocado!

The quality of a small town should be measured by the quality of its indie coffee shops; based on The Proving Grounds, Milford, MI is an A+ 5 Star town. I’ve ordered and am enjoying a hot Maple Pecan latte which is heavenly. They had me at “Made in house syrups “ Extra points for roasting fair trade green beans in house! If you’re looking for a great experience drive the extra 100 miles for this Milford, MI treasure!

Reasonably priced ice cream
I ordered a baby size ice cream in a cone. It is about 3 ounces, enough for one serving. There are sugar cones and waffle cones. The ice cream is brown dog, very limited selection of flavors. There was only one chocolate option.
The service was very attentive and I felt valued as a customer.

Great atmosphere and amazing pour over coffee! They have so many different kinds of beans to choose from that you almost have to go back to try different ones!

I spend 3-4 days a week either coming up with my family for ice cream or working on weekday mornings for a few hours. The quality of all the food and drinks is amazing and their coffee is absolutely some of the best you can find.
All of the staff is extremely friendly and engaging, working hard to accommodate lots of busy events in Milford and daily rushes. I’ve never had a single service issue here and that’s after literally hundreds of visits.
If you still drive out of downtown to find your morning coffee (or breakfast, or lunch, or bakery snack, or ice cream), turn around and head here instead.
