Wonderful birthday lunch! We enjoyed our eggplant Parmesan and spaghetti and meatballs. Everything was homemade and very good. Great service. Patio was very cozy.

My husband and I came here for a nice dinner before my 10k race & to say it was excellent would be an understatement. This is a place we will come back to every time we come into town. It was like going to Italy all over again. I’m GF and they had SO many options. It was amazing. If I could eat here everyday for every meal, I would. Genuinely so obsessed. Not to mention we had amazing service that was incredibly attentive. Sugo- come to Vacaville California so I can give you all my money. What a wonderful meal!

A truly delightful Italian dining experience! The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, and many of them were Italian, which added a wonderful touch of authenticity to the atmosphere. I ordered the spicy shrimp, and it was absolutely delicious. I requested a low-salt preparation, and the team was more than happy to accommodate. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and the shrimp were generously portioned and perfectly cooked. I couldn’t resist trying dessert and went with the crème brûlée. It was the perfect sweet ending and did not disappoint.

Sugo is a delicious Italian restaurant in Santa Cruz! A great spot for lunch by the coast. The carbonara was delicious, and was based off a very rich creamy and perfectly seasoned sauce.
The outdoor seating was cozy, the service was great, and a menu is definitely one that balances comfort and authenticity.
I really loved the cocktail I had! I can’t remember the name – but it had lavender and sparkling wine and was perfect ! Overall, Sugo is a great find for anyone craving quality Italian food by the coast!

Very overpriced for small portion. The owner said it was a huge piece so my wife & I decided to share it. Had the eggplant parm which menu said eggplant was fried but it wasn’t. Its was slimy, looked almost black & cost $25 for only the eggplant. Most places offer salad or pasta with it but here they don’t. A side of penne pasta was $20 & it came swimming in red sauce. The sauce was dark red with a bitter taste. Ended up having a Caprese Salad, good thing they had olive oil & vinegar on the table. The flat bread looked good & so did the gnocchi. Nice place, great service but wouldn’t have any dish with red sauce if eggplant.

Food: The foods taste delicious! The bread is house made and very firm, and baked perfectly. The pasta are well cooked and balanced with just about the right amount of sauce. Need to give a special highlight to the meatballs. The house made meatballs are fantastic, it gives us another level of taste buds journey in the homemade marinara sauce!
Service: we chose to sit at the patio, which can be entered from the back of the restaurant. The staff warmly welcomed us and checked on us from time to time though it’s a bit far from the indoor seats.

Sugo is a special place to have Good Italian fare. I was pleasantly surprised with their menu. They give people the option of building their pasta dish or order from a tradition menu that is lined with excellent options to suit a variety of palates. The portions were large enough to share and the quality of the food is what you would get in Italy. The place gives you interior or exterior in a warmed and covered patio with well thought out lighting. The thing that makes this place stand out is THE STAFF. If you are reading this, Grazie Mile!!! You made my GF’s birthday special and I am grateful for that. Everything was perfect, from the antipasto to the affogato to close the deal. Alla Prossima Volta!

The pasta was quite good and felt like the noodles were high quality and cooked well! The sauce was a little bit lacking in flavor so I would give it an 8/10. Its lovely that they provide bread complimentary but it leaves a lot to be desired as it is way too dense and dry. A few tweaks and this would be a lovely place to come back to.
