Being from Chicago we already knew Jj’s was going to have good chicken. Walking in the smell was unpleasant like dirty mop water yet the floor did not appear clean. It’s an older building so it needs repairs and maintenance, not a big deal. We were hungry and the other chicken spot we went to first had issues.
The woman at the counter was courteous and helpful, I knew the food was going to be good! We ordered chicken and fries with mild sauce and lemon pepper. Our wait time was about 15 minutes.
We ate some fries and a piece of chicken until we got home. Once we got home we ate more. I noticed some of the fries looked refried but the chicken looked fine.
Later that evening my stomach was cramping, I was nauseous, just overall felt horrible. My husband ate his later at work and had the same feelings. The oil they fried the food in was bad/old. It’s a taste IYKYK, if you know you know. Would we return for a second chance, probably not because we don’t live in Indiana and we need some time, my stomach is still tender.

I really enjoyed this location. They actually give you your money‘s worth of what you order and much more. I always get more than I want with the food and it’s always fresh. I actually like going through the drive-through more than going inside the building if you go inside does it smell very good I don’t know if they have any plumbing issues or what the problem is, but it needs to be a little bit cleaner inside than through the drive-through but overall the customer service experience is nice. The people always go over your order and make sure you get what you ask for and even sometime I get much more. They’re very nice and they usually get your food out in a manageable time and you’re actually not waiting very long. They always reach you with a smile no matter how many customers you have and that makes a difference so I give this store overall a two thumbs up I can see the building. I think these will work on inside. I’m not sure what the situation is why it smells in there but overall when I go to the drive-through for me is the best. Thank you for a good customer service overall, I’ll give them two thumbs up.

I am from Chicago, but I live in Indiana. The Miller area and when I tell you, I love it here I do, and I will also let you know I love J. J. Fish and chicken, this is my favorite spot to go. They have every thing that I love. Being away from my home town all these years when JJ was put over here in Miller, was the best thing, the food is fresh and great. The people that work there is amazing. They’re practically like family . Everything is done within a time frame that they tell you . And recall the food is so fresh so good and they’re so clean with everything. If you need somewhere to go and enjoy some really great food, J.J in Miller is the best shout out to my family!!!! Continue to making the best italian beef sandwich and lemon pepper fries along with everything else put respect on j , j , fish and chicken name literally, my older sister.Come all the way over here , from merville , to get a fresh , delicious food that they make , and you know it’s j j fish and chicken along the way , making make sense , y’all

I’m not someone who typically leaves fast food or restaurant reviews, but this experience needs to be addressed—especially because it impacts people who look like me, particularly people of color.
I visited this restaurant while working in Indiana. I do not live in Gary; I live in Illinois and was simply stopping to grab food for my mother. This was my first time at this location. When I got home, the order did not match what was advertised or pictured, so I called and asked to speak with a manager—calmly and respectfully.
Unfortunately, the interaction with the manager was extremely confrontational. I felt spoken to in a way that was dismissive and inappropriate for a paying customer. The tone and attitude made me uncomfortable, and I couldn’t help but feel that the manager felt comfortable speaking to me this way because I am a person of color. I don’t say that lightly, but given the dynamics and the fact that the Miller Beach area is predominantly African American, it’s a concern that deserves to be named.
Regardless of intent, no customer should be treated this way. Respect and professionalism should be standard, not conditional.
At the end of the day, where we spend our money matters. Based on this experience, this establishment is not deserving of mine. I encourage others to be mindful about supporting businesses that fail to treat all patrons with basic respect and dignity.

I ordered the usual fish and chicken and added spaghetti. Get home open the spaghetti and I’m greeted with a white spore I call them immediately to let the. Know and the option is return for a different one or return for my 3.00. I say I don’t want the spaghetti but would like a refund along with something for inconvenience and almost giving me food poisoning. They said it’s only 3.00 so I can return for that no further comp will be given despite it being a health code violation. Despicable service I spent $30+ on this order and I’m a loyal customer and instead of trying to provide comp for a matter I could raise hell about I just ask for $10 off the next meal. These photos are yet my SECOND time goin back to get my food because the first batch was in fact PINK ! I ask them I was not rude would I have to get the chicken again or could I get something for the same pricing the guy told me I had to get chicken I did not want that because just as I thought my chicken is still pink inside . The cook (Who made my food) got an attitude because I did not want the food the service sucks the employees and their attitudes suck and soon as I find a number for a corporate I will be reporting the establishment ! It’s entirely to cold in there to work inside those conditions you guys already over tax for the food but I can’t even get COOKED AND DONE CHICKEN TO EAT ! Worst $18.22 I’ve ever spent in my life and will never do it again
