I recently dined at this restaurant, and I must say, If you’re looking for traditional Filipino food, you should definitely come to this place. Sariling Atin is the best Filipino restaurant in the Chicago area. The price of the food is reasonable compared to Seafood City. I highly recommend trying the ginataang langka, adobong pusit, dinuguan, burong mangga, atchara papaya, and yema with langka.

i was there earlier. We were in line waiting for our turn for our orders to be taken. Then this worker, named “Linda”, came in, took some food containers on the shelves, after getting them, shouted “EXCUSEEEEEE” to us in line. Imagine.. an employee of that restaurant, shouting at your customers to move??? Now, what i dont understand is why did she have to shout rudely?? the place is small and speaking on a normal tone would already suffice us on hearing her. All she stuff she carried werent even heavy, plastic lids.. And to think that their business is under the category of HOSPITALITY.
Another thing i noticed is that theres a hidden charge of $1 upfront beside paying for the food. The cashier said it was for the disposable styro containers we were going to use.. WTH? they shouldve added that to the price since they dont have any utensils where people who wanna dine in could eat.
The place maybe a famous Filipino store here, but after what had happened, i might call this an INFAMOUS one.
Would i be coming back? i doubt.
Would i recommend this to any of my friends? Im afraid NOT.
To those who want to try the experience and dine in the future, do it at your own risk, but you have been warned.
PS: Maam Linda, if pagod ka, wag mo idaan galit mo sa mga customers mo, pahinga ka muna para hindi ka nagkakalat. thank you.

This is an authentic Filipino restaurant that serves food in cafeteria style. Meaning they have certain foods prepared and you pick from what’s available. I came for their Sisig – which I heard was good – but they had ran out for the day. I ended up with two pork dishes – Liempo and Lechon kawali. Both were good and fairly priced. The food feels like what I eat at extended family dinners – good, but not quite the extra pop that you expect from a restaurant. Don’t get me wrong – it’s good and if you want authentic Filipino food quickly – this should be on you short list.
The dining area is small but it seems most people are ordering takeout. A group of 4 to 6 people should be ok – provided there is not another larger group. Overall it feels like an extension of a family home that has been converted into a restaurant. I liked it.

Update, after 4 years, decided to try it again and glad I did.
Changed my 4 stars to 5 stars.
They have updated the interior of the place, new lights, clean white paint, better table and chairs.
The best part of it all is the food.
The flavors are delicious, ample amount of selection and I got to say, the grilled pork chop was amazing.
I got the rice combo with 2 entrees and a coke for less than $10.

Parking is crowded most of the time. Good food… good Filipino desserts…. a little bit on the lower end compared to other Filipino hangout place but never the less… a good place to eat with authentic Filipino cooking.
