I really enjoyed my experience at this Ethiopian restaurant. The food was delicious, authentic, and full of flavor. The service was excellent — very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The customer service was so bad that I did not get the chance to even taste their food. I placed a to-go order by phone as they do not yet seem to have their own site with online orders as I do not want to use the food delivery/pick up apps. The lady who took my order told me my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I gave them more time and got there 25 minutes later. When I walked into the restaurant there were only two tables with other patrons. The lady came out of the kitchen, and I told her about my order and she said “oh, yes it is ready” and went inside. I waited by the counter for solid 10 minutes and I could hear her voice talking to someone as well. She never came back to tell me what was going on nor how long I had to keep waiting as it was clear the order that was supposed to be ready 20 minutes ago was still not ready. Most disappointing was their neglegence about customer service — I’d have waited however long she needed if only they just communicated the same. With no one to talk to or ask, I just walked out and, of course, they did not even call back to find out. I don’t think this type of service will carry them long, but time will tell!

Typically restaurants that are new try to push new customers to give them a 5 stars. Not at HARAR they were very laid back check on us regularly and wanted an honest feedback back. Very friendly atmosphere.
On top of that the food is super delicious. They have vegan options and you can customize your food to your liking. This is a new Ethiopian restaurant in town and so far the best Ethiopian food I had in Houston.
