The wife, me and another couple staying in the area for the weekend decided to try JJ Hills, so we got a reservation. Staff was great, food was not. I had the special Tumwater Burger that even looked bland. I have honestly had far more and better flavor with store bought frozen patties. 2 people got brats that were bland. The other wife got the steak skewers that would have been good if they weren’t so insanely salty. The garlic fries were not bad but just ok. The fondue and drinks were actually pretty good. It seemed that with the food, that there was far more focus on the speed than the quality just by looking at how the food was cooked. Like the brats had fancy slices but in reality those are done to cook them faster without a blow-out and that does affect the flavor and quality. By looking at other reviews, hopefully our experience was a 1 off that does happen sometimes. I’m a guy that likes to eat and typically not really a picky eater, but this was disappointing on a vacation. I’m sure this isn’t their norm.

great service and conveniently located in the icicle village resort hotel. that said, food was very meh… needed a boost of flavor and freshness to live up to the price. chowder was the best thing we ordered.

No reservations allowed for us. I’m not sure why. Greeter said 30min. Actually took 90min. We were excited to try Bavarian food. We would have been better off with burgers and fries. I ordered the beer brats. $28 for two cold, hard meat sticks that were no better than hot dogs. The mashed potatoes were cold. I did not eat even half of the meal. The server had to be reminded of the add-ons to our meal multiple times. The table behind us had two little kids and for most of their dinner the kids pulled out the tablet and watched cartoons at full volume. The only redeeming quality was that there was a game room that we enjoyed while we waited. $200+ for 4 people would have been better spent getting food at a gas station.

The restaurant offers classic American fare in a setting that feels a bit worn but has plenty of local character. Food came out in about 10–20 minutes. Service was laid-back and decent—nothing fancy, but it fits the small-town vibe.

As a local vacation rental management company hosting guests throughout Leavenworth year-round, we always appreciate restaurants that offer consistency, comfort, and convenience — and J.J. Hills Restaurant & Bar is one we’re happy to recommend, especially for guests staying on the west end of town or at Icicle Village Resort.
J.J. Hills offers a cozy, lodge-style dining experience with classic American comfort food, Bavarian touches, and beautiful mountain views from the dining room. It’s a relaxed spot with friendly service and a menu that appeals to families, groups, and travelers looking for a casual meal without the bustle of Front Street.
Some of the dishes our team and guests love include:
Ruben egg rolls (a fun twist and guest favorite)
Bavarian soft pretzel with beer cheese
Cauliflower wings
Icicle steak salad
Bacon & shrimp fettuccine
Seattle clam chowder
Salmon entrées with seasonal vegetables
It’s also a great option for those needing gluten-free or simplified choices, and guests appreciate the spacious layout, easy parking, and mellow atmosphere — especially after a day of exploring Leavenworth’s busier streets.
At NW Comfy Cabins, we value restaurants that provide dependable service, hearty meals, and a comfortable place to unwind. J.J. Hills fits that perfectly. Whether you’re staying nearby, catching a game at the bar, or simply craving a classic American dish in a cozy lodge setting, it’s a solid addition to your Leavenworth dining plans.

The food is pretty good and fairly priced. We have the fondue and you could taste a little bit of that alcohol with all the yummy salty cheese. They were so nice and cut up an orange watermelon that I had brought and forgot a knife for. Continental breakfast was definitely a step above most places unless you’re at the Waldorf. The atmosphere is really nice unless you don’t like crowded places and in that case keep in mind you’re in a tourist town.

Just discovered this restaurant attached to the hotel in the area. Friendly staff. The food could use a change of ingredients, especially for $80…. Perhaps they could increase their quality and preparation. Burger buns were specifically disappointing.
Dessert was good, and drinks were nice. Nothing too special besides the quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

My husband and I went in for dinner with our two grandkids. The food was okay, but I was extremely disappointed in the service we received. Older lady was moody and made it seem like we were a waste of her time. Seems like we’re not the only ones who noticed her attitude, others were affected as well. Not sure if we’ll be returning. God bless!

J.J. Hills (short for “Just Jullienne,” they sell a lot of cut-up food here, you see) Restaraunt and Tap Place is a restaurant in Leavenworth, WA, where you can go tap dance. But I could be confused about all of that.
The food here was wunderbar! (German for “wonder bar,” a brand name of highly regarded candy bars. Hence, the use of the name.) The service was stellar and should be given a raise. If you are looking for a place to eat in Leavenworth, this should be you place!

My spouse and our 4 kids came in. I got the smothered chicken schnitzel. No gravy for the potatoes, the meat was really tough, uncooked onion, covered with sauce and cheese, and awful taste. My daughter had the steak salad, wich she hated and didn’t eat. My husband had the short ribs noodles, wich was pretty bland, but not bad. Honestly would never return, and we only ate 1/3 of our order.
