My boyfriend and I had met one of the workers at a hardcore show the night before we went for lunch back in October. While at the show, he recommended that we try the restaurant he worked at, Que 49, who, as he claimed, had the best BBQ in Jonesboro. I had also heard this claim, and so I convinced my boyfriend to take me the next day for lunch. When we arrived, we saw our new acquaintance, who we were glad to see. He recommended getting the burnt ends, which my boyfriend did in sandwich form, and the deviled egg potato salad. I ordered the ribs and a side of fries, but honestly, I wish I got the burnt ends with the deviled egg potato salad instead. The burnt ends is definitely the best thing here. While the name suggests otherwise, the ends were incredibly tender and literally melted in your mouth. The deviled egg potato salad had the right amount of acid, especially since it was balanced out by the amount of paprika on top. My ribs were good, falling right off the bone, but it just did not have the juicy factor that the burnt ends had. We were also able to sample some wings, and I will definitely recommend getting an extra side of their cranberry cayenne sauce for any of you who love a perfect balance of sweet and savory. If you want great BBQ, go to Que 49!

I’ve been looking for a good bbq place in town for a while, especially one with good brisket (I learned to love bbq in Texas). Que 49 hit that mark. Brisket was tender and flavorful, the potato salad was brimming with flavor, and I even think they make their own tortillas. My wife got the burnt ends and they were also huge chunks that were delicious.
Their sauces were amazing. Their regular sauce was pretty sweet if you like that, but they had a cranberry cayenne sauce that was one of the best sauces I’ve had at a bbq place. Not too sweet, not too hot, a touch of cranberry mixed with that chili pepper flavor. I sure hope it’s not just a fall flavor, I would be sad to see it go.
Edit: hooray! The cranberry cayenne is here to stay!

We had the best experience here for lunch! Met the owner, who gave us great recommendations and was so kind. When he found out we were classical musicians in town for a concert, he brought out his pit master who is also a musician, to meet us. Food was excellent, atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!

Que 49 had the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. Where other BBQ spots in Jonesboro fell short, they soared among the stars. Their brisket was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, welcoming, and inviting. I had an absolute blast and enjoyed some incredible food while I was at it.

A Memphis BBQ sandwich in the sense that it’s falling out of the bun all the way around. It’s a dress it yourself situation in that your cole slaw, pickle, onion and sauces are all on the side. I had enough meat fall off my bun to sample every sauce twice. The cranberry cayenne is slightly hotter that Maddie’s Hot, but rate them both a medium hot as my head didn’t tingle or sweat. The Deviled Egg Potato Salad is a recipe to steal. No room for desert. I’ll be back for that. And no sooner than I posted this review, the owner is out here and buses our table and drops a deep fried rob on me to sample. OMG it was so good.

I have heard so so much about this Que 49 Smokehouse. I decided to get it for my Family to see what all the commotion was about. I believe that this is the Best Barbecue that I have ever eaten in my whole life and I have lived and I have had Barbecue from all over. Even during their so busiest time, Hannah took the time to talk to me and tell me all about it. One of my Daughter’s and her Family are in Stuttgart Germany. They have a Barbecue Smokehouse in Germany. I will be going to try there when I go to visit. So thankful to have this experience today. Thank you so very much.Love ❤️

This brisket, and pulled pork is okay. But was really expecting for them both to be more moist. It really appears as though maybe the heat was too high, or pulled much later than it should have been. The bark line looks good, but like I said the interior meat was dry.
The inclusion of 3 sauces was nice.
It (the brisket) could be dry due to the thin spices, I found a decent amount of jus in the bottom of the container of the brisket, which also makes me think maybe it didn’t get rested properly, the pulled pork had no residual juices, which is quite common.

I’ve eaten at Que 49 many times now and it may be the best BBQ restaurant in Jonesboro at this point. It has a nice location on the Red Wolf strip so you’re not far from anywhere in town. The location is kind of small so seats can fill up, especially during busier hours. They do offer outdoor seating if the weather permits.
Here is a list of items I have tried during my trips to this location:
Ribs – Nice and tender. The only knock I have is they come sauced already. I prefer my ribs without sauce and am used to them that way at other places. 9/10
Pulled pork – It is good and I have no issues with it. Nice, quality meat. 10/10
Burnt ends – They were good but I think slightly over cooked and as with the ribs, they came sauced already. 7/10
Tri-tip – Good and not overcooked. It was honestly just right the one time I had it. 10/10
Chicken wings – BEST WINGS IN TOWN! I expected wings to be sauced already and these are in a cranberry cayenne sauce and they don’t disappoint. Big, juicy, and flavorful. I’ll take these wings over any of the wings offered anywhere else in Jonesboro. They allow you to get all flats as well. I just wish they offered them in a combo. Still, can’t beat them. 12/10
Beef ribs – These were just ok. They’re not the “dino” ribs that have exploded in popularity but back ribs I believe. Again, they came pre-sauced and although they were good, they felt overcooked or maybe old, I’m not sure but something was off when I had them. 5/10
Pork steak – Came sauced already but it was tender and flavorful. Good cut of meat. 8/10
Que Fries – My wife liked these and gave them good reviews. Never had them myself but going off her review they’re good. 10/10
Baked beans – They’re good but on the sweet side. If I have one side to choose this one isn’t a bad one but it’s also not the first one I am selecting. 7/10
Potato salad – I like their spin on potato salad here as they call it “deviled egg” potato salad. It’s good, chunky but creamy. It is probably my favorite side. I usually don’t like mustard-based potato salad but it’s good. 9/10
Cole slaw – Good and slightly sweet but tangy. Not a bad side but I prefer others. 7/10
Fire and ice pickles – You get a small sample of these with nearly every meal. They’re not bad but I wouldn’t get them as a side. They do compliment the meal very well though. 8/10
Crinkle cut fries – Good, crispy fries. Nothing wrong with that. 8/10
Overall, probably the best BBQ joint in town. Been here many times and will continue to go.
