It’s a hole in the wall! In the middle of nowhere. We pass it all the time driving to Sevierville. first time coming here on Saturday night.. We happened to be having dinner later than usual, and they were open after 9 pm! Since moving here from CA, it’s been hard to find good mexican food. Definitely reminded me of Taqueria’s I’ve been to in CA! The Flavors were spot on! The owners (i assume they are the owners, they’re very nice) both came to check on us and see if the food was good for us, and it most definitely was! It’s now in our top 2 mexican places to eat at!

They take cards, but if you want to tip bring cash, their card system does not have tipping available!

We grabbed drinks from their market refrigerators. They also have horchata and a couple of other juices available at the counter.

Super yummy food! It’s also a market which is fun. The only Mexican restaurant I have ever been to where you can’t get a margarita or beer? In fact it’s the third place in this area where we went to eat and there’s no alcohol? Needless to say, it’s worth the super yummy food!

Our server didn’t really attend us much, when we got out food we saw that the cilantro had hair in every order of tacos there was at least one or two hairs in the taco. They don’t have much food options either. We came to tennessee and we missed eating mexican food so we wanted to eat some mexican food and we were looking at restaurants to go too, when we saw the photos they had of their food on here we thought it would be good and look like that. Their food didn’t look like that. I don’t recommend coming here.

This place is no longer Don Beto BUT it’s a MUST-STOP! My friend and I stopped in by chance between a destination and our air bnb, and this is by far the best food we’ve had in a while. We both ordered the pastelitos (you get three in an order and they’re pretty large) and four tacos each. We both ate two chicken and two steak.

Everything was PERFECT. The tacos were simple and incredibly well-executed. You can get chicken or steak, and they include cilantro and onion, plus a spicy sauce on the side. We used some of the slaw from the pastelitos in the tacos and it was great.

The pastelitos were hardy pockets of beef and rice. They’re well-filled, the dough is slightly sweet and pleasantly crisp. These come with a milder, sweeter sauce than the tacos, as well as the slaw I mentioned. These were our favorites.

This is obviously a family business, and if the lady who helped us at the front is the one working on the food, she’s a legend. Whoever’s doing it is a legend. This place is worth a stop out of the way.

Yes, it’s a hole in the wall, but that’s part of the experience. We came here for the food though, not the ambiance, and we were not disappointed. Understand that this is not Taco Bell, Mexican or Tex-Mex. It’s what they would be serving you in Central or latin America. If you’ve tried that food before, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If not, I suggest trying it and you will likely be happy that you did.

Pulled up to a little run-down Mexican food place with my wife on vacation. We were a little skeptical, but I love authentic Mexican food, so let’s do it!

It was half grocery store, half restaurant. Maybe 8 tables. Sat down, no chips or anything until we asked for them. Brought us queso and no salsa… okay, that’s fine, but we didn’t ask for queso. Please bring salsa. Salsa is brought out, server leaves again.

Several minutes later, server takes our order. Can’t explain to my wife what is on a certain dish she wanted, so my wife just picked something random. I asked for tacos but on flour tortilla instead of corn. Then the server tells me that they don’t have any flour tortillas, just corn. I highly dislike the corn tortillas, especially when they’re soaked in oil. I always order the same thing with flour tortilla, anywhere I go.

I have never, at any Mexican restaurant in my life (Tex-Mex or authentic), been told that they didn’t have flour tortillas. I said, “Umm, okay. Let me look at the menu a little bit more.”

We found that many items on their menu seemed to have flour tortillas. It came across that they simply didn’t want to serve me tacos on flour tortillas for whatever reason. When we tried to ask how this is possible that they don’t have any flour tortillas, the server wouldn’t tell us. Just said it’s on corn, no flour, that’s it.

I have been to a hundred Mexican restaurants and never once been told they don’t have flour tortillas. Absurd.

We left $5 with the server for the chips and queso and salsa, and we kindly left.

Don’t go here.
