Tried issho izakaya & sushi AYCE – Annandale VA – Reddit

This is the first time I’ve seen Toro on All You Can Eat. I wonder how much it costs. It looks delicious.

I visited Issho Izakaya in Annandale and overall had a really good experience.
The place has a clean, cozy atmosphere and the vibe feels a bit more modern compared to other izakaya spots in the area. The service was friendly and the food came out surprisingly fast.

I tried several types of sushi and while nothing was extremely unique, everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The fish cuts were clean, the rice was seasoned nicely, and overall the quality was definitely above average for an AYCE-style place. The plating also looked good, and you can tell they put effort into presentation.

It’s not a “special occasion” restaurant, but it’s a solid spot if you want good sushi, decent variety, and a comfortable atmosphere to relax and enjoy a meal. I’d go back again.

We visited last night and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our waitress, Sugar, was amazing so attentive, friendly, and genuinely fun. The entire staff was welcoming, and the food was delicious.

If you’re considering the all-you-can-eat option, definitely listen to your server they truly know what works best. Don’t try to order all five rounds at once .

We sat at the bar, which was a great choice. Watching everything being made fresh was such a cool experience, and every “silly” question we had was answered with patience and care.

I also want to shout out the manager (she was wearing a green cardigan and skirt I didn’t catch her name). She was clearly on top of every detail and paying close attention to every plate that went out.

We’ll definitely be back soon. Thank you again, Sugar, for such a fun and memorable experience!

My husband and I had dinner here for our anniversary. From making reservation to finishing our meals is a flawless experience. David, the manager, greeted us at the door and seated us nicely and immediately. No wait. Food was excellent, sushi is fresh, soup and grilled yakitori are also hot and fresh! They are all delicious. Our waiter, Neo, is new, but he was very efficient and fast. AYCE is worth the price. We had a complimentary dessert, too! We left Issho with a happy feeling!

The moment you walk in here you’ll be greeted with lots of smiles. I would say the bar here is very cute and fun. The drinks are made with care. The bartenders are Kendal and Joey depending on the days. Both are very kind and attentive. Manager Lauren was exceptionally polite and always checking up on her staff and even assisting customers. My buddy also visited at the same time got a table with him and a few others. He said his waiter Alex was also very welcoming and attentive to his parties needs. An overall great experience and this review is after 3 consecutive visits in one week. Not just your average 40-50 dollar customer review. We spent hours here and time just flew by.

We ordered a variety of dishes: sushi rolls, Hamachi with jalapeño, a Katsu children’s curry meal, spicy miso ramen, and Hamachi neck. Overall, the experience was average, nothing was bad, but it didn’t quite stand out among other nearby options.

The Hamachi with jalapeño was the best dish of the night, fresh, bright, and full of flavor. The Alaskan roll was also solid, with clean presentation and fresh ingredients. The Katsu curry leaned salty and needed rice to balance it, but was still enjoyable. The Hamachi neck was fried perfectly, crispy outside, tender inside, and delivered exactly what we expected.

The spicy miso ramen was the most underwhelming dish. The noodles were fine, but the broth had an unusual, beefy taste that lacked the depth and richness I typically expect from good ramen. The toppings, including pork and fish cake, were cooked well but didn’t save the dish. I wouldn’t order it again, especially with stronger ramen spots in the area.

A pleasant surprise was the popcorn shrimp, which the chef sent out on the house. This was a standout dish—lightly breaded, perfectly crunchy, and made with large, juicy shrimp that weren’t overcooked. It had a subtle mix of spice and sweetness that worked beautifully. This was easily the second-best dish of the night, right behind the Hamachi with jalapeño.

The restaurant also had Asahi and Sapporo on draft, which was a nice touch, and the interior décor was warm and cozy for a strip-mall location.

Bottom line: Issho is a fine choice for a casual sushi stop or light lunch if you’re nearby. The sushi and select appetizers shine, but not all dishes hit the mark.

I had an amazing experience at Issho Izakaya Sushi! The food is absolutely delicious — the sashimi is incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the hotpot is super tasty with rich broth and high-quality ingredients. Everything comes out fast, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere feels cozy and stylish.

Highly recommend this place if you love sushi, fresh sashimi, and a great dining experience. I will definitely come back!

I recently dined at a Issho Izakaya, the restaurant served up a fantastic lineup of comfort food classics, and I’m still thinking about it. From soups to crispy bites, everything felt authentic, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. On top of that, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. If you’re craving a warm, comforting meal with a mix of textures and flavors, this place hits the mark. I’ll definitely be back—probably for another round of Nabe and Ramen!

We did the all you can eat sushi, and overall it was a very positive experience and I would go back again.

The location was very nice. 10/10 for aesthetic and service, and for the price the food was actually really good too. They have a wide menu for the all you can eat, including soup, dumplings, and fancy sushi rolls.

The serves were really nice, too, and their tea cups and dishes are beautiful.

We went around 4:00 on a Sunday, and noticed it got way busier closer to 6:00.

visited Issho Izakaya in Annandale after seeing their All You Can Eat ad in the local newspaper. I learned that sashimi is not included in the lunch AYCE menu, only in the dinner option, but I decided to try the lunch anyway.

There were so many menu choices that I wasn’t sure what to get, but the server was really kind and recommended some popular dishes like tako wasabi, nigiri sushi, and amaebi. The sushi quality was surprisingly fresh for an AYCE menu, and the staff checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed.

The menu variety was great, and I thought it would be an even better experience to come back for dinner and enjoy it with a drink.
Even though sashimi wasn’t included, for the price, it was absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

I can’t believe a place like this exists. The food, staff, and atmosphere is all amazing. I came here last night with a friend at midnight and their service was amazing. The food was fresh and beautiful and made to perfection. All of their rolls and meats are extremely fresh and the quality is beyond expectations. You need a place like this in your life.
