They have a huge variety of items on the menu, and everything we ordered was freshly made and felt special. The chicken wings were well-marinated and very tasty. Chicken 65 with medium-spicy achar was awesome. Chicken choila was good as well. Overall, the food quality really stood out.
The service was awesome too. I honestly don’t understand why some people are commenting about bad service. One thing to understand is that the restaurant is currently in soft opening and hasn’t started full service yet, as explained by the server. Once full service begins, they’ll definitely hire more staff.
They also have a self-ordering kiosk, so you don’t have to stand in line. I kept a little patience and was rewarded with great food and a friendly server.
Highly recommended for people living in Orange County or anyone craving authentic Nepali and Indian food. Will definitely be back again next time! ️
The menu has a great variety of both Indian and Nepali dishes, and everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get.
The place is clean, perfect for both casual dining and family meal
Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving good Indian and Nepali food in Irvine. Wishing them great success — will definitely be coming back!
The momo was good, but I wanted to share some feedback about the choila. It didn’t really look or taste like traditional Nepali choila. Usually, choila has a smoky flavor, specific texture, and a strong balance of spices that make it very unique. This one felt quite different.
I’m sharing this respectfully because I truly appreciate you bringing Nepali food to the community. I’ve added the second picture for reference of how traditional choila typically looks, and the first picture shows what I received. I would love to see the choila prepared closer to its authentic style. It should be boiled first and then fried and then added spices.
Wishing you all the best!
The place was clean and spotless. We ordered the Chicken Momo Sizzler which was amazing! The Momo’s seemed freshly prepared and we could get the taste and flavor of freshly chopped ginger and garlic. The sizzler was nice and spicy! The non-vegetarian assorted appetizer platter was fresh and tasty.
The only drawback was that although the service was friendly, the food took time to arrive. This was probably due the fact that everything seemed to be freshly prepared. Please have a little patience. The food is definitely worth the wait!
The quality of the food and the cleanliness make Moti Mahal stand out. We look forward to trying their lunch buffet the next time we visit.
My only criticism is the iced tea. I got what was clearly a hot tea with some ice cubes thrown in, I recommend looking into what other restaurants do with iced tea because it’s a different kind of tea and it’s brewed and served differently.
Also could’ve been a lot spicier, they definitely gave me white-people spicy. Can’t blame them for that though, I know my people and they consider mayonnaise to be spicy. Just means I gotta come back enough to build a reputation! I’ll definitely be returning with friends.
There was a bit of a wait, but that’s completely understandable since this was during their soft opening. Even with the wait, the staff handled everything professionally and kept things moving smoothly. You can tell they’re putting a lot of care into getting things right before their grand opening, which is coming soon.
If this soft opening is any indication, Moti Mahal is going to be a fantastic addition to Irvine’s food scene. Definitely worth checking out, and I’m excited to come back again soon!
