Came in for the first time and bought their braised oxtails. Meat was very tender and flavor was there, rice and peas was great as well. It came with cabbage and plantains and all of this for it to be a small is amazing, Will definitely will be coming back!

I’ve been coming to this Caribbean spot for over 10 years, and that alone says a lot. Longevity matters, and this place has earned my continued support. Most of the staff are friendly, welcoming, and they actually remember their long-term customers, myself included which is rare these days.

Now, there is an older lady who can be a bit strong and nasty at times. I’m not sure if that’s just a cultural thing, but it’s worth mentioning for transparency. That said, it doesn’t overshadow the overall experience or the food.

Let’s talk about what really keeps me coming back: the food is consistently on point.
My favorite is the oxtails always tender, rich, and full of gravy flavor. I usually get mine with white rice, sometimes with veggies. The cocoa bread? Always soft, fresh, and hot .

Shoutout to the young female worker and the cool dude who helps cook & prepare the food at times; they’re my go-to every time. Solid energy, great service.

Lately, I’ve been ordering the curry goat. I tried it for the first time about two weeks ago and now I’m officially addicted. And if you know, you know. I will always fight for extra potatoes in my curry chicken because I love potatoes .

I’ve supported this business for years and will continue to do so. The owner is a stand-up, respectful man who genuinely enjoys happy customers and communicates when he’s available.

This is one of the longest-lasting Black Jamaican-owned Caribbean restaurants in the DMV. They survived COVID and much more, and that deserves recognition and support. I now go once a week (used to be 2–3 times weekly), and the consistency is still there.

Overall, this review is to say: let’s keep supporting our own with good food. This place has history, heart, and real Caribbean flavor.

Most honest review and quite possibly the only review you’ll need. As an avid returning customer I can guarantee you this: the food is really good. Criminally good in the sense that not only are the numbers fair but the bang for buck you get almost makes me want to keep this location to myself . That’s how good the food. Guarantee, I stand on that (in my Denzel voice lol). Patties are great (only questionable one was the shrimp Pattie but that’s my taste though; also could’ve been timing as well). The meat/proteins are CRAZY. I’m talking tender and chewy yet just right. The brown stew has become my favorite over the curry goat (I’m Nigerian, I love goat lol). The oxtail is great. Don’t have to worry about that.
Customer service is standard. Very much an in and out service which, if you’re from DC/DMV area and know about carry outs then it comes at no surprise lmao. The people there are cool and chill, there’s one older lady there who I call mama and she’s so sweet. You won’t get bad service at all but you’ll get in and out . They keep the train moving there and not rude just on point. Atmosphere is welcoming. Caribbean music playing and the smell of the food just gets the mouth watering , no exaggeration. I love this place and I’m serious when I say this: there are probably only 1-2 other Caribbean spots that cover all the bases food wise (for me) AND has a fair price point. No seriously, the price point is so fair for the generous portions (your plate will be heavy yet somehow doesn’t leak in the bag) and I’m telling you the food satiates .

Golden Krust has always been known to me as a patty shop. So imagine my disappointment when I arrive more than hour before closing, and there are no patties, all the food has been put away and it’s looks like they are closing before 8 when the advertised hours are open until 9. The person at the front counter was less than helpful and appeared irritated that I even had the audacity to show up. After driving 30 minutes for patties, I ended up at the jerk pit. I don’t know what kind of establishment this is but more than an hour before closing and you look like you have no food available will be the reason I won’t ever return.

The curry chicken was decent, and goes well with the rice, veggie and gravy. The portion was huge for a Small Meal. Maybe I should’ve went with the lunch special, which is the smallest combo.

I can agree with 99% of other reviews. No customer service. I didn’t feel warm and happy when I came inside. In fact, two people received their food as I was waiting at the counter to be greeted or to have my order taken. They just pushed me right on out the way. I find that to be ridiculous! Eventually, the lady comes over and has this disposition like she’s doing too much. She might be but, not my problem. As for the food, I ordered curry chicken. It’s waay too spicy for me and I don’t care for all the large bones. To add insult to injury, the meat closest to the bone wasn’t even cooked all the way through!!! BIG NO NO! I will not be returning ever.

Today was first time in there, and I’m very disappointed and mad… to start off, the old lady very unprofessional and very poor customer service… she looked like she wasn’t trying to assist me smfh… and then the food I’ve seen on the lunch special come on a regular plate size with a can of soda… but yet my food was given in a very small plate to go with no soda… hope you guys don’t go through that experience… I will never go there again. ‍♂️

Went to the rolling road location for the 2nd time. Only wanted Patties. For the second time the service is horrible! The lady taking the order had a very bad attitude considering it was only 11am. There was a lady in front of me whom she had an attitude with as well. There was no “Hi How may I help you” “thank you”, she even put the money and coins on the counter. I have long nails so it was hard for me to get and she just stood there and watched.

I ordered the jerk chicken patty and the spinach patty. The spinach patty was soooo hard. I literally had to pull it apart and eat the center. The center tasted delicious. The jerk chicken patty was cooked properly but there was hardly any chicken. Very small pieces that you would feed a dearly person with no teeth. Just jerk paste that isn’t flavorful at all.

The food wasn’t the problem — the service was. The older woman at the front was rude and dismissive, and it ruined the experience. I won’t be returning unless the attitude improves.

My first time experiencing Golden Krust and I am thoroughly pleased! I’m EXTREMELY picky when it comes to Jamaican restaurants— if it doesn’t taste like home cooked, then I don’t want it! EVERYTHING was delicious, from the curry chicken to the rice an peas to the plantain and cabbage! Can’t wait to try the different patties next time! 10/10
