The food was good but not as amazing as i hoped. I enjoyed the Cubano the most i give it 4 stars. The yuca fries were good. The Ropa vieja was basic 1 star.. It should have been made better in my opinion. The empanadas were good as well. The drinks were phenomenal. The ambience was great and the decor was very nice. The service was great. Felt like we left Phoenix for a bit. There was a speakeasy inside of the restaurant going through the doors headed to the bathroom. It was dark and gloomy and a whole other vibe as you walk to the restrooms. All in all id say visit Coabana for the essence of Cuba in Phoenix

We went because of the good reviews. The drink menu was very elaborate, so I’d expected the drinks to be good and they were. The glasses were chilled and rum drinks were generously poured. The garnishes made the drinks even more special. Looking then to the food menu you can tell this restaurant caters to customers having drinks and sharing “tapas”, even though this concept is Spanish not Cuban. The appetizer menu is fairly elaborate and has a strange feature where many of the dishes come with 3 pieces and they advise that you can add a 4th for $3-$4 more. We tried the croquetas and again I associate this with a dish I was frequently given while living in Spain. These croquetas lacked potato and seemed to just have a crust with a ham and cheese cream sauce inside. They weren’t great, but better than the rest of the food. The entree menu was bare bones with several sandwiches (the cubano no doubt) and then there was ropa vieja and arroz con pollo, which I tried and it was horrible. It was like actual “old clothing” shredded chicken similar to what one would get at Filibertos. The rice and beans were completely unseasoned just drained black beans and instant rice it seemed. My wife ordered the Cuban sandwich and this should be hard to mess up, but again there was something like shredded pork on the sandwich and it was so salty that I could not distinguish the pickle or the ham or the cheese, the only other thing I could taste was mustard and a lot of it. As all the food was brought very quickly and at the same time as the appetizer I then noticed the croqueta had similarly been flavored with a generous helping of something like Gulden’s mustard. Everything else had no salt and no flavor so I asked for salt and hot sauce expecting a habanero sauce or something perhaps authentic to mask the blandness and the otherwise overarching mustard flavor. I was shocked that they graciously proceeded to bring two bottles of different varieties of Cholula Mexican hot sauce written right on the bottle that it wasn’t Cuban. It almost felt as if this was purposely meant to suggest I as the customer was treating all Hispanic restaurants as if they were Mexican. Later I had trouble getting a box from the waiter who had disappeared and when I found him looking at his mobile at the bar he stated “you’re going to have to give me a minute”. I had already paid and tipped 20%, but felt as if I was being treated as a bad tipper. In any case, I did not eat the leftovers and gave them to my dog.

Always a great experience coming here !! I like to challenge myself with drinks outside my tastebuds and your bartenders always suggest phenomenal drinks. Kc/Casey makes some of the most well balanced drinks I’ve ever had, this place is must!!!

This restaurant claims to be Little Havana (Miami) and Cuban themed but as a Cuban, Little Havana native the food does not match what is claimed. The food is good, my table got Ropa Vieja and Cubanos, but it is not prepared in a Cuban-style whatsoever. If you’ve never had Cuban food, this isn’t the best place to start but I don’t know if PHX has any other options and it is good food in general. The drinks were a bit small for the price and OK tasting. The waitresses didn’t have bad customer service there was just no service. Not a hello or thank you or anything. Most of us have worked food service and we get it being tired or annoyed at the end of the night but it was a bit much especially at 7:30 on a Sunday. Especially since we were charged 20% gratuity for being a large group (6 people) that wasn’t in the restaurant for longer than an hour (I checked). Anywho, please save your money and take a budget flight to Little Havana lol.

EXCEPTIONAL service. Best staff out there. The food? I already want to go back. The guava and cheese empanadas were incredible and homemade. Even the cocktails were amazing. The restaurant is beautifully decorated inside and filled with adorable details. I can’t wait to go back!! Highly recommend.

Great vibe great location, when you walk in you expect something great and authentic but when you sit down and order drinks, I don’t know if we had an untrained bartender, but the drinks were overly sweet and not balanced. We had a spicy margarita and an old-fashioned, which were both mediocre at best. Then you get to the food. The only thing that was good about this place was the fresh oysters, don’t order shrimp cocktail. It’s like the cocktail you get at the grocery store in the round package with red cocktail sauce. everything else was just OK, no seasoning, no flavor just blah. But the atmosphere was the best thing about it!!
We also got a surprise on our bill. It was $125 more than what it was supposed to be, because a table “accidentally” got added to our bill. If we hadn’t looked twice we would have ended up covering somebody else’s tab.

a great restaurant with gorgeous interior, tropical vibes and super friendly & fast service! I wish we lived closer because I would come here all time. Our server was so nice & saw we were from the east coast, she gifted us post cards loved it here! Also the music selection was the cherry on top, Bad Bunny on repeat!

went here expecting little havana, left feeling exactly like i ate cuban food in phoenix. the food was good standalone, but considering the neighborhood it was inspired by, the food felt like it was missing the authenticity it claims. the ropa vieja did not have the flavor profile of the typical cuban plate (a lot of tomatoes?), and the rice and pork in the cubano tasted more mexican-style—when in phoenix, i guess. the food was not bad, however. service was just nonexistent.
