I eat at Local Smoke BBQ frequently when I’m up at the Joint Base for volunteer work. They have excellent BBQ, good service from the entire team and a nice LRD atmosphere. Like most BBQ places, they can run out of things early on a popular day. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

Wonderful customer service!!! Idk why, but it fills my heart when we’re acknowledged when entering an establishment. It speaks volumes. Anywho. I see why they received an award because this is a fall off the bone kind of place. The chicken and green beans were my favorite. Ohh and the mac n cheese was da . Everything was DELICIOUS. You can’t go wrong with anything you order. It’s all. Fall off the bone delicious. Thank you for the wonderful service.

It tells you something right away if you go in asking what the best side dish is, and they say the brussel sprouts. It says all over the restaurant that this is an award winning smoked BBQ restaurant. However, taking a closer look, the awards are from 2008 for the bbq and 2013 for the restaurant itself. It’s now 2025. With that being said, the meat we got (half chicken, chicken wings with dry rub, and pulled pork sandwich) was cooked perfectly. The ribs were a little dry but otherwise cooked well. All of the meat, however, lacked considerably in flavor and honestly didn’t taste any better than Rib Crib. We also got macaroni and cheese, which tasted like traditional saltless catered macaroni and cheese; potato salad with mayonnaise base, and collard greens (which could have been cooked a little longer to not be so crunchy). Overall, the best thing we had was the half chicken, chicken wings, and potato salad. The BBQ sauce was okay, but I tend to prefer the actual meat to taste good and then add sauce to compliment it… if it needs it. The service was good and we didn’t have to wait very long. The restaurant was a little slow with customers at the time, despite it being dinner time hours. Like my husband stated, it wasn’t the worst, but it definitely wasn’t the best and wouldn’t have won any awards in my book.

Stopped in for lunch and the house was full of Soldiers and Airmen. Clearly a local favorite. Yes they offer a military discount. I had the good fortune of trying brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, chili, and roasted brussel sprouts. Literally everything was great. Just order the food at the counter and pay then they deliver it to your table. Clean efficient and again so worth the price even without a discount. I would definitely go here again.

One of the better BBQ joints i have been too. Was better than several of the famous KC joints i have had. A definitely must stop if you are around. 3 meat ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Will swing in anytime i am in town.

It’s been years since I’ve been there, the menus changed a bit, but the food is still delicious. Not a fancy place, but cozy inside if you want to eat in. Great tasting BBQ from ribs to brisket to chicken. The spicy barbecue sauce is delicious on their smoked wings. Could not complain about anything. Service is great fast and friendly..

We arrived on a Saturday evening to a nearly empty restaurant (in fairness, it was like 4:30pm…we skipped lunch that day…). After heading inside and looking thru the menu, we noticed quite a few people that came to pick up orders to go. We decided to pick a few different things to try. There are plenty of options on the menu, typical BBQ fare (pulled pork, pulled chicken, chili, brisket, ribs, wings, mac and cheese, fries, corn bread, etc.). You order at the counter and they bring it to your table once you sit. Our food was brought out quickly and was very good. Portions were large enough that we brought a bunch home with us too. We’ll definitely be back.
