Reviews
The mini pan fried dumplings were good and satisfying with a nice texture and flavor. The beef pan fried bun was not my cup of tea, but that came down to personal preference rather than quality. The service was excellent, friendly, and attentive, which really elevated the experience.
One thing to note is that space is limited. The area is small, and the bar takes up a lot of the space, so seating can feel a bit tight. That said, it would not stop me from coming back. Overall, I would absolutely return since there were so many other items on the menu that caught my eye and I am excited to try on my next visit.
The bar area located at the front of the shop. It’s nicely decorated and various of alcohol selection.
The shop was nice and clean, but it’s not spacious, the walkways were decently (it may not be comfortably for people with baby strollers).
The food was quick and yummy, we checked out several varieties of the Xiao Long Bao , the wrap were not too thick and the filling were nice & juicy. We preferred the sliced ginger to be finer/ thinner than what they served. It’s indeed a nice restaurant to stop by in Katy area.
Pricing was good too – for the quality of food and services.
The staff were okay.
The food was a little disappointing since I had high hopes and all reviews saying it’s was the Din Tai Fung equivalent. Both pork and chicken xiao long bao were room temperature and tasted the same. Tan Tan noodle were extremely oily and tasted like straight peanut butter. Pork Wonton Noodle Soup had little to no taste. Finally, the Mini Pan Fried Dumplings had a perfectly fried bottom but the dumplings tasted like if they were frozen. I also ordered the Onyx Lava Custard Bun with Gold Flakes but our server never brought them out since they were out and didn’t tell us. The lychee black tea smelled amazing though didn’t have much taste which surprised me.
Overall, staff and service was nice and friendly but food was disappointing. It is their soft opening so maybe I’ll come back and give them a try again.
Xiao long bao (below type):
Supreme pork
Szechuan – recommend if you like spicy
Crab and pork
Chocolate melt – for me it was a bit too sweet but if you are adventurous it wouldn’t hurt to try it out
All dumplings type came out steaming hot and juicy so be careful when popping the entirety in your mouth. I like to try it without the vinegar and hot oil first to taste the flavor. There were a fair amount of soup in each dumpling and the dumpling skin was thin enough to not break on you when you lift with tongs. Adding the vinegar and hot oil takes it to another level.
Mini pan fried dumpling – juicy and full of fillings, recommend
Beef roll – it was ok but the meat was a bit chewy
Supreme spicy wontons – recommend
Supreme Tan Tan noodles ‐ if you like peanut flavor in your noodles this is your dish! The sauce was delicious and flavorful but the ratio noodles to sauce were not balanced. We ended up with alot more sauce left on the bottom of the bowl.
Braised beef noodles – this noodle dish was light and refreshing with clear broth. It came with beef chunks and daikon and house made noodles. It was decent but there was no ‘wow’ factor.
Mushroom fried rice – i did not taste any wok hay but interesting way to make fried rice without the yolk of an egg. The egg white was almost mistaken as rice but when you taste it you will think ‘oh that’s an egg’
Lava custard buns with gold flakes – be careful when handling and biting into this pastry as it comes out fresh and steaming hot. Although the bun was close to flavorless it balanced out the sweetness of the oozing hot custard in the center. I recommend if you have room for dessert
Service was friendly though we had to flag down any waitstaff to ask for additional items or check. I would come back if I am in the mood for Xiao long bao.
Long wait during peak hours…
The menu’s star, the dumplings, are consistently outstanding. Whether enjoying the delicate soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) or the perfectly pan-fried varieties, the quality of the fillings and wrappers is evident. Each bite reflects meticulous preparation and adherence to traditional techniques. The freshness of the ingredients shines through in every plate served.
While the pricing may place it on the higher side, the cost becomes easily manageable—and decidedly worth it—when dining with a party of 3 to 4 people. This number allows a group to effectively sample the diverse array of dumplings, noodles, and expertly prepared small plates, turning the meal into a comprehensive culinary tour rather than a simple dinner. The ability to share multiple dishes is essential here.
The service is attentive, efficient, and ensures a clean, comfortable dining environment. For anyone in the Katy area seeking top-tier Chinese cuisine and planning to share the experience, Supreme Dumplings is an absolute must-visit.
