Locally owned chef-driven sandwich shop blending NY Jewish Deli, Italian, Philadelphia & Southern influences in the Douglass Loop. It’s praised for its high-quality ingredients, house made corned beef & pastrami, and scratch made soups, sides, sandwiches and desserts.

Excellent sandwich shop. Lots of authentic Jewish delicatessen meals. The matzo ball soup was very good and the matzo ball was large and with just the right consistency. The broth was just broth, although very tasty. Perhaps having some carrots or onions in there or chunks of chicken would’ve been nice, but it was still tasty.
The pastrami sandwiches were very good and tasty and pretty large. The jalapeño dressing was not overly spicy and had just the right amount of kick to it. I found the potato latkes were tasty although they could’ve been a little larger, but they were still good and served with either sour cream or applesauce.
Service was also superb and very friendly. They do not have fountain drinks, but they do have soda and tea. I look forward to a visit in the near future, especially to get another bowl of their matzo ball soup

Went to Good Belly for lunch today. I ordered an Oven Roasted Turkey Melt (#8) with the pickled cabbage on the side, and my husband ordered Pastrami with Cole Slaw (#5). Definitely gives NY vibes, you’re not going to get sandwiches like these just anywhere – you’re especially not going to come across them frequently in Louisville.
Cute place on the inside. The staff were all super friendly and easy to ask questions to in regard to the menu. Ordering was easy & the sandwiches came quickly, a majority of the menu is served hot. Everything was delicious, even the cookies.
We took our 2.5 Year old and our 7 year old. It’s pretty chill / laid back vibes inside. Our 7 year old is a wheelchair user; the two steps to get into The Loop posed an accessibility issue but we got her in fairly easily (my husband lifted her/her chair up the steps). There is a set of 5-6 steps within the restaurant, but thankfully there was an open table on the lower level (there’s 4-5 tables on this level) by the counter that we were able to snag so it worked out.
Food and vibes were great, but admittedly wish it more accessible. From what I could tell there wasn’t an alternate entrance that was more accessible.

We’ve been coming here for over two years, back when GoodBelly was still a food truck, and the quality has never slipped—if anything, it’s only gotten better.
This visit we had the roasted brisket sandwich and matzo ball soup, and both were outstanding. The brisket was tender, deeply flavorful, and done right. The matzo ball soup was comforting, rich, and exactly how it should be—no shortcuts.
The service is consistently excellent—friendly, genuine, and attentive without hovering. The environment is warm and inviting, the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy your meal.
It’s rare to see a place grow from a food truck into a brick-and-mortar and still keep its soul. GoodBelly has done exactly that. Highly recommend, and we’ll keep coming back.

Walking in, I felt like someone had hacked my brain. So many great nostalgic art work and the wonderful smells of a thoughtful menu. It was our first time so we played it safe with a shared entree of rosemary chicken salad sandwich. Chips and pickle included. It was flavorful and gone too quick to get pictures. We decided we would be back and fearless with our eyes and hearts set on trying the Rueben and pastrami sandwich.

I stopped in at Good Belly Sandwich Shop for lunch yesterday with friends, and as always, it was an incredible meal. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I highly recommend the pot pie or chopped cheese when they’re on the menu — pure comfort food perfection — or my Go-To classic Reuben, which never disappoints. Louisville’s lucky to have a spot like this!

Sandwich was awesome. Staff more awesomeer. Looking at the menu nothing looked bad. I will also say the mustard is on point. Fast service to the table. Didn’t get dessert but they were very tempting under the glass. I got the number 3 but will start at the 1 next time and work till the end of the menu.

We went to Good Belly on New Year’s to get corned beef and cabbage, and it was AMAZING—so incredibly delicious. I ordered the Reuben with coleslaw and honestly couldn’t stop eating it. Every bite was packed with flavor and clearly made with care.
It was the perfect way to start the year with a lucky meal. Can’t wait to go back again soon!

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place!! Went tonight and brought my brother, mom, and friend for their first time! Everything is so good, got the turkey Reuben for the first time—steered from my usual the turkey melt—and of course had to get the lemon caper potato salad, yum!! Additionally tried the matzo ball soup and the special of cheese knish, delicious!
Highly recommend, come support this small business!!

I ordered the pastrami #14 and the chicken salad sandwich. Both were delicious. The pastrami had a good fat content and a little Smokey tasting and somehow the chips were still crisp even though it was a takeout order.
