We had a reservation for two at Tasty Thai in Hervey Bay last night. Upon arrival, we were directed to our table rather than being shown to it, which was a little unexpected but perhaps the usual practice there.
However, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. Three other groups were seated after us, all of whom received prompt attention — water was served, orders were taken, and one table even had drinks and entrées delivered. During the 25 minutes we were seated, no staff member approached us, nor were we offered water or given any acknowledgment.
After waiting with no service at all, we decided to leave. Even as we exited, no one appeared to notice or address the fact that we were leaving without being served.
The lack of attention and basic service was unacceptable. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to try the food, as the service alone made it a very poor dining experience.

Update:

We returned to Tasty Thai in Hervey Bay this week (5th November) after a previous visit where we’d unfortunately been overlooked and not served. Following that, the owner kindly reached out with an apology and a gift voucher, inviting us to give them another try.

I’m very glad we did! Our experience on Wednesday night was a complete turnaround. The restaurant was busy, yet service ran smoothly and efficiently — we could see that all tables were attended to. The staff were attentive throughout the evening, and Rowland, the owner, personally came over to apologise again for our earlier experience, which we appreciated.

The food was excellent. We shared spring rolls and dim sims to start, followed by a Thai Red Curry and Beef and Ginger Stir Fry for mains. Every dish was full of flavour — the curry had just the right amount of spice, and the stir fry had a lovely, subtle ginger taste. Portion sizes were generous, and we left very satisfied.

A big thank you to Rowland and the team for turning things around. We’ll definitely be back — great food, great value, and warm service.

Absolutely delicious food, easily one of the best Thai meals I’ve had in Australia. Every dish was full of flavour, fresh, and perfectly cooked. You can really taste the quality and authenticity in the food. Great atmosphere and friendly service as well. Highly recommend Tasty Thai and I’ll definitely be back.

Well appointed restaurant. Clean, relaxed atmosphere. Good customer service – the owner is friendly and can claim a sense of humour. The food! Absolutely authentic Thai, cooked by Thai kitchen staff. We were stunned by the quality and flavour, as we were transported back to Thailand. A well worth it dining experience. Going back!

Eat here for the lunch special and try pad ped with chicken for $17. The portion is generous, and the taste is good and the salad is refreshing. It was said spicy but not too spicy for me. For drink, coconut water with jelly is a must.
The service is good and love the cozy ambience & decorations.

Usually a Thai restaurant never disappoints. The atmosphere was pleasant. Food disappointing. So the following feedback is for the chef/cook.

Garlic prawns dish had no garlic flavour. The vegetables included coleslaw. I would have preferred Asian vegetables such as boc choi. The prawns were bland and the sauce was thin watery and without flavour.

On paying we were told that the food ID number was incorrect and that it was mixed up with curried prawns. There was no curry flavour either.

SAD to say the least.

Delicious fresh Thai food. We had green chicken curry and massaman beef curry and both were amazing. Spicy vege friied rice was 5 star!

Our favourite Thai restaurant in Hervey Bay. Best to make a booking as it’s usually always busy.
We always order a seafood soup as a starter and it is so delicious!!
Our mains vary as we aim to try all of the dishes!!
Staff are always friendly.
Take away available.
10/10

The food was good! But Very bad customer service!! The male old man who was serving us was very aggressive, we asked politely if they do chips for the little kids and he replied: We are not McDonalds?! and he kept on asking us if we are going to be sharing our meals and saying we kept on switching our meals a lot, because when we asked for chicken and then I switched it to beef and he was like you’ve done a lot of wrong things and then he said why do you keep switching your meals up rudely . but we weren’t? I DO NOT RECOMMEND .

Didn’t have a booking, so was extremely happy when we were able to get a table. Ordered 2 mains and an entree, and a drink each to start! Entree came out within about 10 minutes, and the dim sims were great! We did ask then where the drinks were, and they were brought out within a few minutes. Waited for approximately 40 minutes for the mains to arrive. My meal, beef massaman arrived, and was very underwhelming. Beef was tough, and not much of it. Husbands meal arrived about 15 minutes later, his dish lacked chicken(had approximately 5 small pieces). I would not return to this restaurant. Even the tables around us were complaining about the wait times and the seats in bringing each meal out! Would not recommend

Most certainly NOT the best Thai restaurant in Hervey Bay. Had Satay chicken sticks for starters. Tasted like cardboard, tough and hardly warm. Mains , yellow potato chicken curry. Tasteless and try and find the chicken ( plenty of potato )? . Cannot recommend , expensive for what we had. Never return
