It is now the same as any other non-authentic Japanese restaurant. Might as well go down the street for something cheaper for the same quality.
It’s a shame because I heard they had trained with the Yamaguchis to preserve the integrity of the restaurant. It’s unfortunate that it was all lip service.
The owner is present and very caring and it shows in the presentation and quality of the food. All options are very affordable compared to what other restaurants are charging for this quality.
The sushi is top grade. The salmon and fatty tuna are melt in your mouth good.
The other options are also phenomenal because I’ve had them all.
If you’re looking for an elevated, top notch non-fusion traditional Japanese restaurant, look no further. This will check all your boxes and you’ll keep coming back for more. I know I have and will.
However, you will immediately find out that this place is enamored by locals and tourists alike. I never lived in Port Washington, but this is one of my favorite sushi restaurants. No other place simply can catch up with Yamaguchi in terms of culinary excellence and the value. They just raised the price is Sushi A set substantially to $27. But where in NY can you get 8 pcs of top-notched nigiri + tuna roll. And a bowl of miso soup? And complimentary edamame? Please enlighten me if you know who can outcompete.
Seriously we need Yamaguchi in every town of America. It’s an understatement when I say I am getting sick of $150 omakase place taking over every major US cities. I don’t need golden spoon, I don’t need caviar on the torched salmon. I just need some good sushi meals under $30. Thank you Yamaguchi!
